The next day rolled around and K.C headed back to Pam and Derecks to get ready for their date. She was sure the singer had already told his parents, judging by their creepy smiles as she walked through the house, laughing at them and heading up to shower and change.

Getting out and letting her hair air dry, she put on some mascara and eyeliner before slipping a sparkles black tank top on that hugged her body, tight blue jeans and her boots. Looking in the full length mirror, she fiddled with everything, suddenly feeling nervous as she slipped on her hat before making a face and taking it off, sticking the bill in her back pocket, she felt better with it near her. Hearing Brantleys voice downstairs she took a deep breath and remembered what he told her, just go with the flow and don't read into it.

Heading down the stairs, she automatically caught Brantleys eyes, which were fixed on her jeans and she couldn't help but smile. "See y'all later." They said at the same time to his parents, who never said a word, just smiling the whole time. "Your mom and dad can be so weird sometimes." They both laughed as he walked over to the passenger side, opening her door, which surprised her. "This is a date K, I open and shut doors, don't touch them." He joked and she rolled her eyes, hopping up into his truck and waiting on him to get in. "So what's the plan?" She was wondering what Brantley was like on a date all day, she felt dumb. "Uh, steakhouse, duh. Then I thought we could catch a movie. Is that okay? I know you ain't into all that expensive shit Jana was, date night with her was more like Break the fuckin Bank night." K.C busted out laughing. "Steak house is perfect, movies are good. But, this means we've been on plenty of dates then." They used to go to the steak house whenever they could afford it when they were in school. Brantley chuckled, "I so did not think about that. You wanna do somethin else?" "No! I love the steak house and I can't even tell you the last time I went to the movie's." She didn't want him to think he had to pull out all the stops when they hung out. Just being around him and being relaxed was good enough.

They'd made it to the restaurant and Brantley made her wait again while he came to open her door. He laced his fingers through hers, smiling down at her as they walked inside and got a booth in a more secluded area so he wouldn't be bothered by fans. "So, what's the coolest place you've ever been to?" Brantley spoke after they sat down and both ordered sweet teas. The redhead thought for a moment, "Maybe Guam, Ireland, or Singapore." They all have their own types of beauty. He chuckled, "Did you ever think you'd leave Georgia and go to Guam?" She smiled, "Definatly not. You been outta the country yet?" The singer shook his head, pausing while the waitress came back and took their order, both steaks, mashed potatoes and broccoli with cheese. "Nope. I'd like to go somewhere though, like England or Ireland." "We should do it." Brantley smiled, "How the he'll am I gonna find time to go?" K.C shrugged, "We'll plan it for after the tour. That way you can look up everything you'd want to do, then we can go and just wander around aimlessly." The excited twinkle in her eyes made him smile even more and chuckle. "Wouldn't you rather go to some island?" "Hell no, I'm sick of sand." They both laughed. "Okay, so England in 6 months. How long do we stay?" The redhead shrugged, "If neither of us have anything to do, then who cares? We could drive to Ireland." "Girl, you're crazy." She just smiled as their food came and they dug in, staying in a comfortable silence until they were finished. "You still wanna go see a movie, or you wanna finish our throwback night?" K.C smiled, they always used to go ride aimlessly through the woods until they were almost out of gas, or it was close to K.C's curfew. "Throwback. We gotta have the skol vodka too." He made a face and she laughed. "But, we can afford good vodka now." He poured. Still laughing, she stood up while he left a tip and Bill money, "It's not throwback without the skol." He rolled his eyes, smiling anyway, "Whatever you want babe." He grabbed her hand as they walked out, heading over to the liquor store before his truck.

Now, they were riding down their favorite road in the woods, enjoying that absolutely nothing about it had changed. The redhead had his radio cranked up, singing along with Justin Moore to" Lettin the Night Roll", Brantley couldn't have picked a better song for the moment as she slipped her hat back on. He'd realized the other morning that it was one she stole one night before she left, riding down the same road after they'd left a party. Smiling and laughing at her dancing along, he grabbed her hand and pulled her across the bench seat, laying the arm around her shoulders as they cut the corner. They rode around, singing along with Justin as they pulled up to a long, wooden bridge, going down the side and pulling up to the creek bank where the used to party. "Oh Long Bridge, how I've missed you so!" She jumped out, yelling dramatically as she hugged the huge, single oak tree in the middle of the sand where everyone stood and built their fires. The singer laughed at his friend, keeping his radio on, turning up what was now George Strait and grabbed their bottle, putting the tailgate down and hopping on it, still watching K.C dance around, happy to be in a place that made her happy.

After a bit, she joined him on the tailgate, grabbing the bottle after she took a few swigs and did the same. "I almost forgot how peaceful it was out here." All you could hear were crickets and frogs in the darkness as she laid her head on Bratleys shoulder. "So did I do it right?" He broke the silence after a few minutes of them quietly passing the bottle back and forth, their heads spinning while he shifted to face her. The redhead smiled up at him and nodded, "Don't you always?" He smirked, eyes locking with hers before he leaned in and kissed her. Laying her back gently on the tailgate without breaking the kiss, Brantley let his hand run up her side and cupping her face while her own hands ran up his back before doing the same. They pulled back, breathless after a few moments and Brantley laid his forehead on hers, smiling and looking into her eyes. "So how many more dates before I can tell the entire world you're mine?" She smiled, searching his face for a moment to be sure he meant what he was saying. "I've always been yours." He kissed her again, putting everything he had into it before breaking it again and giving her two sweeter, simpler kisses. "Sorry it took so long." Still smiling, she shrugged, "Sorry I left you with a stupid note." His thumb rubbed her cheek, "If you wouldn't have, I probably wouldn't have figured out how perfect we are for each other. The distance helped a lot. Plus, you're like my own lil personal hit man." She was smiling at he first part, then when he said' hit man', she lost it and busted out laughing. "Wow, thanks!" He laughed too and couldn't help but kiss her again. Laughing against his lips, she finally felt truly happy. There wasn't a feeling in the world like this. Knowing your in love with your best friend and finally knowing he feels the same way.
