Pam and K.C had woken up early, heading to the big city, luckily beating traffic. They were now in their second store and quite honestly, had no idea what they were doing. "I think we should call Luke's wife." K.C spoke as they looked through outfits. Pam nodded, "She always looks so beautiful. Hurry up!" They both laughed as K.C dialed up Carolyn. The blonde had been excited to hear from her, telling the redhead to give her an hour and they'd meet at the mall.
K.C and Pam were wandering around aimlessly when they noticed it was time to meet Carolyn. Heading to the store she texted about, K.C quickly spotted her smiling face. "I don't think I've ever been called for a fashion emergency." she sounded excited and the redhead laughed, "Be prepared then. I don't want too dressy though, but I kinda want to surprise Brantley too." Carolyn beamed. "I have just the thing in mind." She took them around the current store, and then to a few more. Surprisingly, each outfit she'd picked out for the former soldier, was something K.C loved. Carolyn didn't pick out anything that made her feel uncomfortable. Everything looked good with her tattoos as well. Flowing altogether like Carolyn knew what she was doing, which she'd stated many times today that she had no idea. They were having a blast. Settling down for lunch, K.C couldn't help but smile, "K.C baby, I don't think I've seen you this happy since before you left." Pam spoke. "I really am. I love being in the military, but now I'm home with people who are all but blood t me, Brantley and I are doin good. and, I finally have a chick for a friend. Best part? No one's shooting at me." The redhead joked making both of the women chuckle. "Well, I'm glad Brantley talked you into goin on tour. You're really like a breath of fresh air around there. Its nice not seeing a girl dressed to the nines everyday. You're yourself K.C, no matter what and I really like that about you. I know you're going to be way out of your comfort zone at the awards show, but just remember, I'm not far from you." Carolyn winked, making K.C smile. "Out of my zone is an understatement." Their food came and they ate in silence. Carolyn headed back home afterwards, Pam and K.C doing the same.
"Thanks for a fun day Ma." They were heading inside, already able to hear the baseball game on t.v and Dereck and Brantley yelling. "No, thank you baby. I had a blast." They both smiled, sitting their bags on the kitchen counter, catching the guys attention. Brantley smiled and kissed his mom's cheek before K.C's lips, "You ladies spend all my money?" They chuckled, "Nope, we did have to enlist Carolyn for help though." Brantley chuckled, "Can I see what you got?" K.C shook her head, "Nope. Its a surprise." She smiled as he rolled his eyes and tried to grab a bag, earning a slap on his hand. "No sir. You have to wait. Carolyns gonna come over to our room and help me get ready, so you're stuck with Luke and Jason." He smiled anyway, excited that she was dolling up for him even though she hated it. "Thank you baby. It really means a lot you goin with me." He kissed her cheek as she smirked. He'd found his match, and now that they'd been together a few weeks, he had a hard time wondering why he hadn't done this year's and years ago.
