I climbed up through the door and stood up on the roof. It was a lot more higher up than I thought it would be. Nigel came up through the gap and then eventually Brian did too.
"Oh no you don't. What the hell are you guys doing up here?"
"Don't you dare think you would be up here on your own!" Nigel stared at me looking cross. "Roxy and the boys are taking care of them downstairs.Or at least I hope so." I looked all around me for anything I could use at all.
"Now, what do we do?" Nigel finally asked moments later.
"How the hell am I supposed to know what to do?!" In the distance, I saw that Brian was taken aback from my sudden outburst. "You're the leader, you should come up with something, boss." I said with a sarcastic tone.
"Excuse me, but I wasn't the one coming here without a plan and then suddenly decided to climb on top of the roof now was I?"
"Oh well excuse me for not being organised or anything! You know, I've never been good enough for you have I?" Nigel stared at me, looking angry. "I mean everything has to go Nigel's way, it's always about Nigel. You never realised how much I gave up to be here."
"What?" Nigel suddenly stood in front of me and yelled at my face. "I gave you a place to stay, I told you the real truth about your parents. I was the only one who gave you a second chance. Now I'm the bad guy?"
"Stop it!" Brian suddenly pushed his way between us. "Fighting isn't going to do us any good."
"Too right it isn't." We all turned around to see the lead Bandit on the roof. He approached us slowly and we were all intimidated by him. He sniggered evilly as he walked around us.
"Something peaceful about standing on the roof." He walked close to the edge. "You can see the beautiful views. You could also look down to the ground a few hundred feet away and fall down to the pits below. I think that just sounds splendid."
"We're tired of your little games." I yelled at him and he turned around and smiled devilishly. "Just give us back the instruments and we'll leave."
He walked around me, stood close to my face and pushed some of my hairs from my shoulders and grabbed my neck. I tried not to flinch as he moved his face close to my ear and whispered.
"Do you think I'll really do that?" His voice was loud enough for the other guys to hear but still sounded pretty breathless. I held my nerve, trying not to look scared and breathed quietly. "If I did, what would happen? Will you catch us? Tell the police on us? Where's your proof? Your motif? You're just a hopeless child. Just like you were all those years ago."
I felt the anger build up on me as he pressed his fingers on my neck tightly. "No-one can imagine what goes on in a three year olds mind. But imagine a three year old seeing her parents lying there on the living room floor. Stone cold. Dead. No blood pumping through their veins. " He snarled and I whimpered as he then chuckled. "Oh well, never mind. Just shows that they were disappointed in you. You're nothing."
"Leave her alone!"
He stood there, trying to stare at me with black eyes. I was breathing heavily now as he still had me in his clutches.
"Oy! I said leave her alone!" The bandit let me go to walk towards Brian who was standing there, looking angry.
"Well, well. If it isn't Brian May. Superhero of the rock world." He laughed as he was now walking around Brian. "I did warn you about this one. But you would do anything for popularity now wouldn't you?"
"That's not true!" Brian shouted but the Bandit was still laughing.
"Oh really? I heard about the last one. Apparently, she dumped you as she thought you were too possessive. Couldn't trust you. But you just couldn't help sticking your little nose in. Of course you've now fallen out with your parents because you're on the road all the time. They never thought you could upset them that much. Being a rockstar is hard work, isn't it my friend?"
He then turned round to Nigel. "And here's Nigel. Long time no see! Did you ever mention to anyone that you were a former Bandit?"
"WHAT?!" Both Brian and I yelled at exactly the same time.
"And then you decided to form a new group by yourself because you were jealous of me holding the limelight. Oh, I guess you never mentioned this, oops, have I given too much away?" The Bandit laughed evilly again and Nigel stood up to him.
"Yes, it's true. I was a Bandit. But then I found out the truth about your little group and knew I had to stop you and capture you one and for all. I made a promise to myself that I would do it, and give everything it takes. As I wanted you to be gone from this world, before more innocent lives were taken."
The Bandit didn't even look as if he was paying attention to what Nigel said.
"You know. We should have done something to people who disobeyed us or formed a treaty against us. For every person who we didn't like, we should've given them the penalty of death."
At that very moment, the Bandit pushed Nigel over the edge. He laughed as he saw Nigel handing on to the rim of the roof for dear life, shaking all over.
"NOOO!!!" I ran to help him but the Bandit took a swing at me and knocked me down to the ground. I then saw Brian use a loose pipe to trip the Bandit over. As he ran over to attack Brian, I ran over to Nigel, grabbing one of his hands as he still had one holding onto the edge.
"Hold on, Nigel! Hold on now!" I tried as hard as I could to pull him up, used every strength in my arms to save him. Suddenly I heard a scream and turned around, thinking the worst. Brian stood there overridden with shock. The Bandit must've fallen over the edge as we heard a thump as he reached the ground. The sound made Nigel whimper as he still clutched my hand tightly.
"I..... I didn't mean to...." Brian sat down in surprise muttering under his breath. "I mean..... I couldn't....."
I turned round back to Nigel who's fingers were beginning to slide from my palms as they were sweating.
"No, No. Don't you dare, don't you dare do this to me." I grabbed his arm and looked at his face. He suddenly looked calm, at peace.
"It's too late, Jen. Just let go." He said in a faint whisper.
"No way. I am not going to do that!" I kept trying to pull him up but he said two words.
"I'm sorry."
His other hand let go of the roof and his arm slid off my hands. I screamed as I saw my boss, my friend plunge down hundreds of feet to his death. I stared, trying to deny what just happened, wanting to press rewind, trying to find anything to think that this was not happening. The only person who was truthful to me, and was like a father to me was now gone. And there was nothing I could do.
I sat down, still close to edge and sobbed loudly. I still screamed as I buried my head in my own arms, weeping in pain. I killed my true friend, it was all my fault. I should've been stronger. I shouldn't have yelled at him all those times before. All I wanted was to see his face again, to know that he was safe. I felt horrible deep inside. I wanted it to be me not him.
I felt someone holding me. Brian wrapped his arms around me and placed his head on top of mine as I was still crying my heart out. We sat there for ages, as I still screamed and wept as Brian held me close. I still couldn't believe it was happening. I lost someone else close to me. And it hurt a lot more.
