Eighteen Months Later........

I stood outside the Apollo theatre, waiting in a long cue to collect my tickets. My best friend from work, Megan, stood beside me in her pretty floral dress, putting on the lipstick. At least this time I'm paying for my tickets. My 9 month old boy was being rough with his new glasses I bought for him the other week. I held him in my arms and bounced as I tried to calm him down. He tried taking off his soundproof ear muffs as he was annoyed that he had to wear them.

"Now come on, stop it now, you need to keep them on." But he couldn't stop fidgeting. I guess it's a big day for him as this was the day he was going to meet his dad.

As we approached the ticket stand, we picked up our VIP passes and headed in the concert hall. I saw the Queen t-shirts that were for sale, one of them was exactly the same one I had on at this very moment in time. At least this one meant something to me.

The crowd was heaving as the concert began but we sat on the seating above them so that we could keep a certain little boy from getting lost in the sea of people. To think that eighteen months ago, I was standing on this very stage trying to get people to escape from the Bandits. This time, no-one wanted to leave. My heart skipped a beat as Brian came onto the stage with his acoustic guitar. I knew exactly what song he was going to play next.

"Thank you very much." He adjusted his microphone and checked to see if his guitar was in tune.

"This song, has become a personal favourite of mine. Of course Freddie wrote it and he's such a talented songwriter." The crowd applauded as Freddie took a bow. He now had a big moustache under his nose that made him look very noble. You could just hear Brian's laugh as he looked at his fellow friend.

"But this song means an awful lot to me as well. I mean the last time we played here, well it was a bit of a rollercoaster if you can all remember. And well, I could only pray that this person is here tonight, or if not, I hope she's safe and well. Anyway, we would love it if you guys could sing along, because this is Love Of My Life."

My heart melted as I heard those words. I could just see Megan link her arm with mine. I told her all about my time with Brian all those months ago so she knew full well. I grabbed my son's little hand and swung in time to the music as his head rested on my shoulder. Brian still had the talent for playing that's for sure. I stood there and shut my eyes, taking in Freddie's smooth beautiful vocals and Brian's spellbinding guitar playing. I then opened my eyes to see the whole crowd singing back in perfect pitch and sang along with them. When the song ended, everyone jumped and cheered as Brian and Freddie took their bow together. Now's the time.

I nudged Megan and we headed our way out of the hall and into the corridor backstage. Megan stayed beside the door wishing me good luck as I walked down that small corridor. My boy was walking behind me slowly, holding my hand tight as I approached the wings of the stage. I saw Brian talking to one of the show organisers.

"Ok, Mr May, you'll have two minutes to get changed or what have you, before you have to come back on the stage after Roger's solo. You got that? Two minutes." The guy definitely had a Glaswegian accent. Oh how I've missed that accent.

"Ok, great. Thanks a lot." Brian nodded as the guy ran out to sort out the lights. Brian slowly turned around and saw me. He gasped as I walked in slowly, adjusting my hair.

"No way!" His jaw dropped with shock as his glowing eyes stared at me in disbelief.

I smiled from ear to ear back at him. "Hey you."

He walked slowly towards me but stopped just a small distance away. He put his hand on his head, looking surprised. He could hardly speak.

"I just..... I mean, I just can't...... It's really......." He stumbled for a few minutes before saying, "Hi."

"Hi." I said just after him. I then felt my hand being squeezed so I took a deep breath and cued the music.

"There's someone I'd like you to meet." I pulled our little boy out from behind as he waddled in front of me, still chewing on his glasses. Brian gasped as he saw him hugging my leg and his curious eyes were staring around the wings.

"Is that....?" Brian crouched down and put his hands in front of his mouth in shock.

"That's your son." I gazed down at him as he stared at Brian mysteriously. "I'm so sorry, please don't freak out. I tried to contact you, but you were away around the world with Queen and I couldn't reach you. I then waited for the day I could see you again like this, because I wanted you to know from the start."

Brian looked up at me and gave a small smile. "Could I?"

I nodded and moved closer to him with our little boy holding my hand tightly. Brian looked up at him with a massive smile on his face.

"Hello." He said holding his hand. "I'm your dada." I could see the little smile on our son's face, just like my baby smile in that old photo I still kept in my purse.

"Can I get a cuddle?" Brian held his arms out as the little boy ran into them. I saw a tear fall down Brian's face as he held him, closing his eyes tightly. I nearly cried myself as I crouched down in front of him and our little boy ran back over to me and put his hands on my knee.

"So what's his name?" Brian's finger was held by his small hands tightly and he wouldn't let go.

"Nigel."Brian looked straight into my eyes and then saw the Queen t-shirt.

"Of course it is."

My hand covered both Brian's and Nigel's hands together and for once, I felt as if we were a proper family. Suddenly the organiser from before ran over to us.

"30 seconds, Mr May."

"I'll be there as soon as I can." Brian said with an irritated tone to his voice. I chuckled as the man just stormed off, looking stressed. Brian turned back to me, shaking his head. He then kissed Nigel's forehead which made him giggle.

"He's gorgeous. Just like his mum." I tried to hide my face as I could feel it blushing bright red. It was as if I just saw him yesterday, nothing had changed. He was still as handsome as he was that night we first met.

"So, has everything been ok, finance wise? If I knew before, I could've organised something. I should've been there with you right from the start." Brian looked guilty.

"It's ok. You're here now." I smiled as Nigel was still holding Brian's finger.

"So, has there been anyone else? You know, since then." His hazel eyes glared at me. From that stare all the flashbacks from 18 months ago came rushing back. When we worked together, saved each other, when we first kissed, even when Roger fell for my dear friend Roxy. I blinked back to the present moment and saw that Brian was waiting for an answer.

"There was never anyone else." I said and he nodded.

"Yeah, me neither." We could hear the crowd shouting Brian's name loud and clear and I could just see Freddie waving his arm as if to say, 'Move your butt over here!'

We both laughed as Brian kissed Nigel on the head once again and stood up. "I better go."

"Yeah." We stood there for a while before I picked up Nigel. "Come on then, trouble. Daddy has some work to do." As I was just about to leave a felt a hand holding mine. Another flashback of the first time he held my hand on that very first night came to view. My heart fluttered as it did back then. He had the same pose, same face expression, same everything.

"Listen, could you meet with me after the show? I could take you out for a coffee. I need to talk to you about our plans with this little treasure." Nigel smiled as Brian went to tickle him. I saw an instant connection between the two, it was stunning to watch.

"Yeah, sure."

Brian winked at me, picked up his Red Special and ran back onto the stage. The crowd screamed as he started to play the riff to Tie Your Mother Down. I bounced Nigel up and down to the music which he seemed to enjoy. I was also excited, about the fact that he didn't forget me, and that he was willing to help me out.
