Hi guys, please vote if you like it and please drop a comment to tell me what you think. Constructive criticisms are more than welcome.
I think he notices that I'm starting to panic, because he moves closer to the bed, and raising his hand like he's trying to decide the best place to place it. I guess in the bid to comfort me or something, he said "Hey it's fine. I don't think you're in trouble or anything. I think the cop just wants to ask you a few questions".
I just gave him a blank stare for a moment and continued looking around. Right this moment that was not reassuring at all. I still don't know what to do or how much to say.
I was assured that I would get help, but I guess I got sidetracked. Which reminds me, I turned to him and asked "How exactly did I get here?"
He looked uncomfortable for a moment and then said "I'm still trying to decide that. I mean I was so sure the road was free and then suddenly there you were and I didn't have time to stop the car before impact" at this point he had a look that I couldn't decide if it was sheepish or remorseful.
But I was incredulous " you hit me?"
He said, "no no, I mean yes, I mean I didn't mean to. It was an accident. I just explained, I didn't see you. Where the hell did you come from anyway? And I'm just realising that I don't even know your name. What's your name?"
I stared at him for a moment and said, "Orlaith, but you can call me Orla".
He smiled and said, " you have a beautiful name. Nice to meet you Orla. By the way I can't place your accent, where are you from? Your name sounds Irish but you don't exactly have any accent I'm familiar with."
I was starting to panic again. I don't know what to tell him. While preparing me for life on this side of the world, I wasn't taught what to do in a situation like this. I didn't even expect to be in a situation like this anytime this soon. But I remember that I must never tell just about anyone the truth.
I was still opening and closing my mouth trying to decide on what to tell him. I guess he mistook my indecision for confusion because he said "Hey it ..." he didn't quite complete it when the door opened, and in walked a lady in a white dress.
When her eyes met mine, she smiled and introduced herself as Lily, my nurse and that she was there to check my vitals. She said I gave them quite a scare by temporary going into coma but she was glad I was alright.
That got me confused and I asked her " how long have I been here?" She gave me a kind smile and said " you've been with us five days honey"
That almost got me hyperventilating. Five day. Anything could have happened in five days. They could probably be closer to finding me right now, and I'm just lying here. But then a part of my mind( a very small part) thought or they could have given up. But I knew that was wishful thinking. They would never give up.
I was lost in thought when she spoke up and said everything looked normal. She checked the screen beside my bed( I now remember it's called a heart monitor) and asked if I was in pain because my heart rate had picked up a few times, but I told her I was fine.
She packed up her things and was leaving, then at the door she stopped and turned " oh I almost forgot, there is an inspector Johnson downstairs to see you, since you're fine I'll send him right up. He's been coming everyday, maybe he will stop if you finally talk to him."
I just swallowed and told her " ok I'll talk to him". I guess I'm doing this without supervision after all. gods above and beyond don't let me mess this up.
I only noticed Matt was talking to me when he touched my arm. I turned to him and he said " I can see that you don't really want to talk to him, if you would really rather not i could try to convince him to give you time". I just shook my head and told him it's fine.
He opened his mouth as if to say something else and the door opened once again. In walked a very tall dark skinned man. He has a muscular intimidating build. But his physique isn't what is intimidating me right now. It's his eyes, they look intelligent enough to see through any bullshit.
He already has a calculating look in his eyes. I think I can officially agree now that I'm in trouble.
And the second chapter is up. I know I promised a certain someone that I would put it up yesterday but I couldn't meet up, so I'm sorry. See? I tried to make it long just for you. I hope you guys like it.
