Danny stood in the room. He was stiff. His mother slept in bed. She had put a purple dressing gown over her clothes and she had fallen asleep as soon as she had put her head on her pillow. Danny walked forward. He chanted Redrum. He knew that his father was walking down the corridor towards the staff quarters. He was passing Room 237 right now! He picked up the knife Wendy had taken from the kitchen for perfection. He slid his finger down the knife. He then walked over to a corner of the room, picked up his mother's lipstick and wrote the dreaded word on the walls. And that was when he screamed the word. Wendy awoke with a start. She held her son and screamed his name. She looked up and looked in the mirror. And that was when she realized what Redrum was. What this whole word had been. Backwards in the mirror read MURDER. Redrum was murder spelt backwards! Why hadn't she realized?! There was a loud bang on the door. Wendy screamed. Another bang. Wood fell to the ground. Another bang. More wood fell to the floor. He was breaking in! She gathered her courage to stand up, but her legs shook. She got the knife and dragged Danny to the bathroom. She slammed the door shut and locked it, then ran to the window. Jack had made a huge hole in the door.

"Wendy," he taunted. "I'm home!" He slid his hand into the hole and unlocked the door. Wendy was trying her best to open the bathroom window but it was almost frozen solid. She was able to open it halfway. Snow fell in through the hole and spluttered into the sink. Wendy picked up her son and pushed him out of the window, legs first.

"Come out, come out wherever you are," said a chilling voice from outside. Wendy pushed her son out the window and Danny slid down the huge bank of snow. Now it was time for her to escape. She climbed out through the window but she was too big to fit through. She struggled to get out, but she was trapped good. There was a knock on the door. Sheer terror rushed through Wendy.

"Danny!" she wailed. "I can't get out! Run! Run and hide! Run quick!" Danny ran away as fast as he could.

"Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in," taunted Jack. Wendy grabbed the knife from the sink and stood at the wall next to the shower, weeping. "Not by the hair on your chinny chin chin?" whispered Jack. "THEN I'LL HUFF AND I'LL PUFF AND I'LL BLOW YOUR HOUSE IN!" The axe slammed into the door. Wendy screamed in terror. The axe's edge poked through the door and Wendy kept screaming. The axe kept chopping through and Wendy screamed. The door hole kept getting bigger and then Jack stopped. He peered his head in.

"Here's Johnny," he taunted. Wendy screamed blue murder.

"JACK, PLEASE!" she wept. Jack put his hand through the hole and put it on the bathroom chain. Acting fast, Wendy sliced Jack's hand. Jack screamed. He tried again but Wendy sliced again, this time zig zagging.

"KEEP GOING AND I'LL KILL YOU!" she screamed through her tears. "I'LL HAVE NO CHOICE! LEAVE ME ALONE!" That was when the sound of a motor was heard. Through the loud whine of the wind, the motor noise grew louder until it was right in front of the building.

"The nigger cook," whispered Jack. Wendy gasped. Dick! He must have come to save them! Jack walked out of the room and out of their quarters, leaving Wendy. He walked down the corridor and down the grand staircase of The Colorado Lounge. He turned the corner where the large fireplace had stood. He hadn't been down here since Ullman and Watson had taken him and his wife when they were touring the hotel on Closing Day. He limped and held the axe in drooping hands and growled to himself. He was near the kitchen now. The nigger cook would enter through the lobby and he would act. Oh, how he was looking forward to teaching his wife, son and the nigger cook a lesson.
