12/04/17Dear Hyemi,
Guess what day it is... Actually, you can't since we aren't actually talking and I'll never really send these. Well, I'm just talking to myself... It's my birthday. Congrats to me! It's a lonely birthday since no one seems to care this year and you're not here to tell me to have a wonderful birthday. No one bothered to text me a "happy birthday" or anything. It's like they weren't excited that I was born. Like they didn't care if I was born. You don't know how much this hurts, Hyemi. You don't. And please, never feel like this. I'll feel like this so you will never have to. Don't worry, I didn't eat any cake so you don't have to worry about me eating a whole sponge full of sugar... since no one bought one for me and it would be weird to buy a cake for myself and sing happy birthday to myself...
Love,
Kim Seokjin"Happy Birthday Seokjin!" You crept up behind my back and yelled in the middle of the hallway. Everyone turned to see the commotion. Class ended a few minutes before and we were about to walk home. Your smile was spread across your face which made me smile because it was so contagious.
"Thanks." I replied shyly.
"Can I stay at your house today so we can party all night?" You asked.
"Uh... sure? I mean, it's a friday so if you want? Would your parents let you?" I rubbed my nape of my neck as a habit because I was flustered at that moment. You wanted to stay with me for my birthday. I felt like I was a special person.
"Of course! It's YOU, Seokjin. They trust you." You pushed up your glasses as we started walking. You swung your violin case around and bounced as you walked.
As I turned on the lights to the living room, I was welcomed by a decorated living room, and several other humans. My parents, Eunji, Tanhee, Soyoung, and Yoongi attended. The room had pastel blue streamers and lime green balloons. There was a pile of presents that varied in size.
"Happy birthday, Seokjin!" Everyone yelled. Streamers were flying everywhere.
"This was possible thanks to Hyemi!" Yoongi credited you.
"Yeah, she set up everything. Even the decorations. She's really amazing." Tanhee put her hand on your shoulders. You smiled shyly because you were embarrassed and not used to compliments.
"Anyways, I hope I made this a special day for you." You smiled.
"It is, all thanks to you." I wanted to confess that day. I wanted to tell you how much I loved you. I knew you wouldn't feel the same. If I did tell you, you would have taken the word love as a friendship kind of love. "Thank you, Hyemi." Blush crept onto my cheeks as I gave you a smile.
We fooled around and did stupid dares all night. You threw streamers at me soon enough, everyone was running around throwing streamers at each other. Yoongi dared me to draw on your face. As much as it was a bad idea, I still did it. By the time I finished, you had a unibrow, a curly mustache, a pointy beard, and on your forehead was a drawing of fish. Soyoung took a picture of you with the drawings on your face and printed them out. She got so mad that the printer wasn't printing so she pressed print seven times. Seven copies of your pretty face with my beautiful drawings. We partied until it was one in the morning until everyone had to leave. You stayed the whole night trying to clean up the mess everyone caused.
You were special to me. You made me feel like I was someone special to you. That wasn't the case. I was just the same as everyone to you. No more than another friend.
