Chapter 25
Day 6 - Continued.
I let go of John a couple of minutes later, giving him a look that meant 'please don't follow me.' He understood.
As I made my way off of the dance floor, bodies hitting me as I went, I made sure to keep my head down. My eyes were still black from the thoughts that had taken over my head. Amarande had set my village on fire, killing my family and friends just to get to me. Couldn't there have been another solution? I thought, but then I remembered what he was, and knew something nicer probably wasn't an option.
If I had to die today, he was going to die too. He doesn't deserve a longer life than me. Especially since it was him that had taken away my peaceful human life. I walked out of the metal door, probably which was for employees only, and slammed it shut. The sun would be rising in about an hour.
My short black dress didn't really suit the cool weather of Fall, but I didn't mind. I knew my eyes were probably going to be black the rest of the day, as emotions inside of me were running high. So, I did the only thing a vampire would do. I went out and found a guy walking on the street, and fed.
It wasn't because I was hungry, no. It was because I couldn't think of a better thing to do. Plus, why did everyone have to seem stronger than me lately? I used to be the most powerful female on the planet. What had happened that had made me so weak?
I thought of all of the possibilities as I dropped the man on the ground, his tan coat dirty with pavement stains. I think I had fed off of him before, although who knows. I had fed off of a lot of people.
On the good side, I had made sure it wasn't painful for him.
I thought about the first time I had saw John, or Braedon again, at a Vampire club. I thought of the phone call from Amarande that next night. It had all happened within a couple of nights, all within hours. How could I be so lucky to have met with past acquaintances all in that short amount of time?
It was rather astonishing. Gone for six hundred years, and then they all come back. Six. Hundred.
I stood there next to the now sleeping man, pondering, not caring if Philip would just come now. I had become numb.
Everyone from my past had come when the murders had started. It was as if they had all come together, it seemed like there was no way other than that. They had come when Philip had come. TOGETHER.
I thought about the brown eyes back then that Amarande had. I thought about the brown ones that belonged to Philip. I thought about John, whose were blue. It all clicked together then, and I leaned against the brick wall, my breathing becoming heavier. Rage consumed me.
The power that both Amarande and Philip had, it was unnatural. They both were powerful, they were the twins. Not John and Philip.
Amarande and Philip. Twins.
Even though I could barely see with the red in my eyes, I saw a white piece of paper glinting with the glow of the streetlight nearby lying beside the man I had fed off of. I picked it up with shaking hands, almost afraid to see it. Me, afraid. I hesitantly unfolded it, not wanting to read what was on the inside.
