The normal hum of the classroom became a deafening roar of shouts and whistles. The last bell of the year rung, sending students running out of their classrooms. Checking my desk, then zipping up my backpack and slinging said backpack onto my shoulders.
I stood, pushing in my chair. looking around, the classroom surprisingly clean. "Bye Ms. K hope to see you for asl next year!", I said while heading out of the classroom.
Opeining the door I ignore the discarded assignments that strewn the hallway floors. Exiting the building i headed for the back of the school. "Good bye, Dobentry high" I called to no one.
There would be a car out waiting for me. Again, I left my driver waiting for an arrival that would never come. Hehe. Most days I sneak away, not wanting to deal with the hate filled stares that accompany me taking the limo home.
My usual walk home consisting of passing the bakery, going through the park, into the forest, then the family woods, before entering the mansion. My tall stature made ease as I hopped the schools fence. Passing the town bakery I paused.
I didn't have any friends at school. Outside of school was a different matter. I had a friend named Zyl(zI-yel). Zyl could be found when I would sneak away to walk home. Sadly, I have not seen Zyl in the past few weeks, making me worry. I'd better hurry before the driver finds where I've gone, though I could get myself a treat.
Unslinging my backpack, then rummaging for my wallet. Found ya! Opening the wallet, I counted. Four ones and a five. nine bucks! Fwootch. A little black blur past by my face. An emptiness hung in my hand. "Hey! My Wallet!", I shout as I sprint after the blur. After turning the corner onto Howler street I saw the blur turn into an alleyway.
A bit surprised I looked down the dark alleyway into the familiar blue eyed gaze of my grandfather, "What are you doing here, gramps?" The shaded alleyway made the man's medium complexion look even darker. "Don't worry, I spared your driver today".
"But that ruins all the fun." I exclame.
"The ride I provide for you is for your saftey." Grandpa scolds.
"Why are you in the alleyway? Your usually at work when school ends." The blur had black feathers that meshed with the background. The blur would occasionally fly by our heads becoming nearly invisible as it blended in with our black hair. What is that thing anyway? Maybe some type of bird? It does have talons and a beak."Ah...right, my work. Follow me and you will get your answers." The blur landing on gramps shoulder as gramps began to walk farther into the alleyway.
"Ok?", I say nervously follow gramps. Why would gramps be doing down here? We stopped at a brick wall gramps warns me, "Be prepared"
"Be prepared f-", With wide Wide green eyes I watch gramps walk right through the brick wall. After touching the wall i genuenly belive I'm hallucinating. There is no way gramps walked through this, its solid
"Sorry, I forgot you would need help to enter.", the disembodied voice of my grandpa startled me. Gramps grabbed my hand pulling me through the wall, "Its time you learned the family business." speechless with my jaw hanging in agreement. All around me were cages filled with mysterious creatures. Gramps looked at me with amusement painting his features, " Go on, find your answers and Give me your stuff. When your done come find me at the Amora. " With a load off my back and a pass from gramps, I went to look around.
"New here? We have a wide variety of demons. common and rare, plant and animal. Care for a tour? John Ome at your service" , John Ome wore a button up shirt with a tie along with black trousers and hiking boots. "I would like the tour. How did you know I was new?", I replied.
"Not many people come to the Demon Market wearing a tee and jeans.", John began walking to the first set of cages. Inside was a bundle of black and brown scales. "This is a C Sigler. Siglers are two headed snakes that can either be venomous (V) or constrictors (C). Siglers are used for attacking as most Siglers can swallow a small dog when fully grown."
"Where is the Amora?"
"It's the southern end of the central tent. I'll show you where it's at on the way." Along the way to the next cage, John stopped and pointed to the Amora.
The Amora looked to be a small food stall. Benches and tables were strooned here and there. Of course all of the place was under the tarp of the central tent.
"Thanks. What's the next demon for me to see?" I asked.
"A Caper, an extra large crow demon. They're used in areal attacks and can kidnap a small child". I watched the caper walk across some branches to grab a drink of water. "Oddly enough, Capers are herbivores"
"My grampa has this demon that has blurry black feathers, small, and it stole my wallet. Any idea on what it's called?"
"The demon you saw was probably a Twible. There fairly common, yet are hard to train. Stealing is second nature to a Twible. For that fact Twibles are mainly used for stealing, though they can be used to send mail"
