It happened so fast. one minute I was standing, the next she lunged and clawed my pantleg. I didn't even notice when my foot was yanked off the ground.

I landed on my back only to have the catile on top of me.  What do i do?! I was starting to panic. NO! Panicking is bad! Think. Think! She's a cat. Cats like scratches behind the ear! Luckily my arms were free. My hand instantly shot up.

I gently scratched the back of her ear. Its so soft! She jolted a little before leaning into my touch. A soft purr erupted from her throat. The area below my left  hand  began to glow a light blue. Huh? Is this what gramps meant by forming a bond?

I kept on scratching the area as the light grew bluer and darker. I was curious as to what was going to happen.

"Ahhh!" A flash of blue light and pain gave me my answer. Owww... that hurt. I now had a circular marking, a bridge over a frozen waterfall, on the palm of my hand.

The Catiles wight left my chest. She stood wide on her paws while shaking and scratching at the back of her ear. Then I saw the reason why. She had a circular marking too though hers had a branching tree with feathers for leaves.

As soon as the marking appeared they disappeared, though I could still see a faint outline. So this is what gramps meant 'You'll know when you've bonded with the demon'. I sat up, looked at her and stared.

I could feel the bond, yet it felt weak.  She needs a name...  "Would you like to be named? um.. Fido? Wait thats a dogs name" She looked at me in disbelief, her eyes weary. At least she wasn't attacking me anymore. "Lucy?" She gave me that 'annoyed look'. Isn't that called the evil eye? I sat there thinking. "How about Rena?" She seemed to purk up.

I reached my hand out, palm up, stopping just before her face. "Rena, is that the name you want?". She slowly took a step closer, sniffing before rubbing her face against my palm.

My hand traveled from her muzzle to the back of her ear. The markings glowed. A strange sensation engulfed my palm, no pain was felt. Out of thin air two pendants appeared shaped exactly like the markings. There were no chain or string to the pendants.

What am I supposed to do now?  Rena picked up the pendant matching her marking. She walked up and set it to my neck.

I got the gist, I picked up the other pendant and set it to her neck. Blue light flashed for the last time. The pendants were now suspended around our necks by matching silver-gold chain links.

I could feel the bond solidifying into something nearly unbreakable. What did I just do?
