An Apocalyptic Romance

Chapter 3

The next morning was a Saturday and I was thankful for that because the previous day had me exhausted. I'd found my mate, spent the entire evening getting to know him, and then dealt with Candace and Julissa showing up around midnight wanting to know everything that had happened. It had been a pleasant but long day. The only thing that had even woken me up was the smell of pancakes wafting up to my room from the kitchen.

After dragging myself out of bed I took a quick shower before throwing on some cute leggings and a fitted t-shirt. I pulled a brush through my hair and, remembering Dimitri was in the house, put on some light makeup before heading downstairs for breakfast.

"Goodmorning," Dimitri greeted me with a warm smile when I entered the living room. He had a laptop sitting on the coffee table in front of him, I appeared to have broken his focus completely just by being in the room which made me want to blush. It was amazing to me that I had this kind of affect on someone, then again he had the same affect on me, a mated couple had one hell of a bond.

"Morning, what are you doing?" I asked curiously sitting down beside him.

"Responding to a few emails while your mother finishes breakfast. Earlier this morning a pack member dropped off a car for me to use while I'm here so I went ahead and drove over to the motel to grab my stuff about an hour ago. I haven't checked this in days, I'm incredibly behind." he had dark circles under his eyes and I noticed his accent was thicker this early, it probably had something to do with him being tired.

"They dropped it off here?" I had thought it would have been fropped off at the motel.

"Yes, I called to change where I needed to have it delivered after I went to my room last night, well your guest room." he explained before brushing my cheek with his hand. "Do you want to go out today? I don't have to report until tomorrow morning so I'm all yours."

"I'd love to." I responded happily. "Oh and by the way, it's your room now." I mumbled before leaning in and kissing him quickly.

He smiled warmly at me before responding, "Thank you, what would you like to do? You know this town much better than I do. Hell, I got lost on the way to the motel. It's only three miles away."

"Well there's really not much to do in town. We could do the fifteen minute drive to the city?" I suggested after giggling at his motel mishap. I loved the city and spent a pretty significant amount of my time there.

"Alright; after breakfast?" he clarified.

"Sounds great, I'm gonna go see if mom needs help." I said getting up, Dimitri nodded and turned back to his computer while I walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning sweetie." my mom greeted me. She was already dressed with her hair done and a full face of makup on, it would be incredible to me if I didn't know that my mom was an incredibly perky morning person.

"Morning, need help?" I asked walking over to her.

"Oh I'm almost done with the food, set the table for me?" she requested smiling widley and I started.

It took about five minutes to get breakfast finished and the table set. When everything was done I called Dimitri in and we all ate the feast my mom had prepared; I think she was trying to impress our guest. Our usual Saturday breakfast was pancakes and some kind of meat. Today however there was blueberry pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, a mix of fruits mom had bought a few days earlier, and three kinds of juices sitting on the table.

We all ate quickly; mom had to go to work and Dimitri and I were excited for our day trip so breakfast took all of twenty minutes. The three of us practically raced out the door when we finished eating. Mom was probably wanting to prep for the lunch rush that was going to flood the restraunt she worked at in a couple of hours. She was head chef at a four star restraunt and took it seriously; she was at the restraunt six days a week for at least ten hours at a time. Me and my new mate weren't in such a rush. We just wanted to get our date started.
