As I was laying in bed ready to go to sleep I heard a knock. I looked around confused for a moment because it didn't come from the door. I heard it again and realized it was coming from the other side of the wall that my bed was against; Shawns room.

I giggled as I realized Shawn was tapping the wall. I mimicked the knock he had done. The second I knocked my phone lit up.

Shawn: Try to keep it down over there! A mans trying to sleep!!!

To Shawn: you started it!! goodnight mendes🙄

Shawn: Goodnight loser... Try to actually get some sleep tonight. I don't want to find you on your balcony at six thirty am again

To Shawn: yes sir!

Our vacation is nearly over and Shawn and I have had a blast. We go back to LA in two days. It's been so relaxing and exactly what I needed. The only thing that has been bothering me is that Shawn and I haven't talked about this awkward tension between the two of us. We still have not spoken about the kiss and what it created between us.

"Ready?" Shawn asked as he stood in my doorframe.

He was dressed in a button up shirt and dress pants. He looked sharp; he looked hot. I studied him for a few seconds before I realized I was staring.

"Oh-uh, yeah!" I said awkwardly as I grabbed my purse and headed out the door.

"You look great Elle." He said as we sat down at our reserved table on the beach.

"You look rather handsome yourself." I smiled shyly.

"So our song drops in three days." Shawn said with a huge grin on his face.

"Isn't that insane?" I said excitedly.

"Very. Now what're your plans for your music?" He asked very seriously.

"I guess put out a single whenever Kim tells me to." I shrugged

"Which song are you thinking to release first?"

"I think you're right, I Have Questions would be a good choice." I explained.

"Elle, there's nothing to be nervous about," he took my hand in his on the table, "your music and just you as a whole are amazing."

I found myself getting lost in his chocolate eyes once again. He held his deep stare into my eyes as well. Our moment was interrupted by our food being brought to the table.

"Yummy!" I said as I took my first bite.

"You're such a child." He chuckled.

"I'm the child?" I laughed, gaining a fake mean stare from Shawn.

"I don't ever want to go home!" I sang as I spun in a circle on the sand.

Shawn chuckled at me.

Shawn and I decided to take a walk on the moonlit beach after dinner. I love the beach. I love the atmosphere here. I wish I could stay and escape reality forever.

"Me either. Being here, with you, has been probably one of the best vacations I've ever taken." He said with a sparkle in his eye.

"You've been on a lot of trips, are you sure about that?" I joked.

"Absolutely." He smiled hugely causing me to smile as well. Then we walked in a comfortable, happy silence.

We walked back to our rooms because it was getting late. Once we got to our hallway we stood there awkwardly outside our rooms.

"Tonight was really good." Shawn broke the silence.

"It was a lot of fun." I agreed.

Why is this so awkward?

"Goodnight Shawn." I said as I went to give him a hug.

He wrapped his arms around me tightly for a few seconds before releasing. We paused as our faces were inches apart for probably five seconds. My heart raced in those five second and I wanted nothing more than for him to lean in and kiss me. For a second I thought he was going to do just that.

Why am I feeling this way about my best friend? What is happening?

"Goodnight Elle Rose." He said softly before disappearing into his room.

I stood there for a moment, just thinking. Thinking about my feelings and how weird things have been lately. We are still ourseleves around one another, but we keep finding ourselves in this awkward moments. Not to add that he has been extra sweet to me lately.

I took off my make up and got into my pj's before climbing into bed. I laid there staring at the ceiling, hearing the ocean waves crashing outside my room from the open balcony doors. I just laid there thinking and thinking and thinking.

After sitting awake, unable to sleep for over an hour I heard a familiar knocking on the wall; Shawn. I felt a smile grow on my face as I copied the pattern of the knock once again. After that, nothing. Just the crashing of the waves again.

I felt disappointed. I don't know why. I don't know if I wanted him to continue the knocking, text me again, or what. Maybe I just wanted his attention?

After waiting for five minutes to see if he was going to knock again I decided to actually try to get some sleep. I rolled over and burried myself in my sheets.

As I shut my eyes I heard the knock once again, but this time it wasn't coming from the wall. It was coming from the door. My eyes bursted opened and I sat up straight in bed. I questioned myself if I actually heard the noise at first, but ended up tiptoeing to the door to check.

I opened it slowly and saw Shawn standing in the doorframe. He was in his pajama pants and a white t-shirt, hair slightly messed up. He seemed distressed, like something was bothering him.

"Are you ok-" I started, but was interrupted by Shawn slamming his lips onto mine.
