All eyes turned to me. Alex's orbs widened in shock as he came to me. "Princess, you shouldn't have heard that."

Panic settled in my stomach. Helga's killer, was one of my suitors ...

Dov's eye's pierced mine, smirking slightly with his hair covering his left eye. "Well, we both know it wasn't me, don't we princess?" I flinched in fear, shuddering. I backed up, instinctively. Dov chuckled, making his way to me, cracking his neck. "Well, Princess?"

Alex's hand flew to his sword, swiftly unsheathing it and holding it to Dov's neck, the sharpp end ghosting over the thin flesh of his neck. The glimmer of the metal shone into my eye, making me turn my head away. "Back away from her, Your Majesty." Alex spat, eyes narrowed. "I don't want to cause an incident."

"Neither do i." Dov said back, moving the sword away gently with two, calloused fingers, glaring at Alex all the while. "I was with the Princess just before she found that servant girl-"

"Helga..." I whispered, raising my eyes to meet his. "Her name is Helga, give her the respect she deserves... she's not some servant girl... She's my friend."

"She was your friend." Dov tutted. "Either way, I can't have killed her."

"Same with me," Arnel stood, a mischievous grin plastered to his face. "after I stopped dear Dov from assaulting the lovely princess." he giggled, smirking. Arne's eyes went to me, glaring into mine as he licked his lips. I froze. My whole body went cold, the hairs on my arms tingling as a chill flashed down my spine.

Fury twisted in Alex's face, eyes darkening before he turned to Dov, his hand gripping his sword tightly. "Alex, don't." I whispered, looking up at him. Alex ignored me, his nose flared as he puffed his chest, barreled and large. "What did you do to her?" Alex spat at Dov, his hand shaking on his sword.

"I leaned in to kiss my future wife. Is that illegal here?" Dov said, coldly, his red eyes piercing Alex. I looked at Alex, my eyes begging him to stop. "It's illegal to attempt to force yourself on the princess, married or not." I gulped, looking down. 'Isn't it illegal to force yourself on anyone?'

Dov clicked his tongue in response, straightening his back intimidatingly. "Then I apologise. I didn't mean to make you so possessive, Knight."

Alex glared, face twisting in anger. He quickly unsheathed his sword, pushing off of the balls of his feet, about to attack. I gasped and dove between them, pressing my hands to Alex's chest, pushing him back. "Alex, don't do it! Go... Go take a walk, ok?" I kept my hands on his chest, gazing up at him.

he looked down at me, chest rising and falling with each angered breath. Alex sighed, sheathing his sword and holding my hands, indulging in their warmth before removing them from his chest and letting them go. I whimpered softly, wanting to lean in and kiss him, feel his lips on mine and hold him close. I wanted us to be happy together. He bowed down, shutting his eyes and cutting off my portal to his wondrous soul.

"Thank you, princess. I apologise for being so uncouth. I swear, I will find Helga's killer." He said as he stood again. "Thank you, Alex." I muttered, softly. His Adam's apple bobbed in his neck before he glared at the suitors and left.

My breath hitched in my throat as i held my hands to my chest, feeling my heart ram against my ribs. I can't keep torturing myself like this...'

"What an intimate moment..." Yama broke the silence, musing. He held his teacup in his hands, the hot, steam warming his face into a blush. "almost like watching two lovers reunite."

"It did feel odd," Duci hummed. "especially seeing as she must choose one of us, yet she's flirting with a guard."

"i wasn't flirting!" I said indignantly. "and even if i was, I understand my duty to marry one of you. i cannot do that until I know which one of you killed Helga. So, until this murder is solved, I am postponing my decision. For the sake of the others, i recommend the murderer comes forward." I snapped, eyes narrowed at them all. I straightened out my dress, my hair and my posture before turning and walking out, finally letting my bottled-up tears stream down my face.

Bracing my back against the door, i covered my face with my hands, sobbing into them. Helga was gone. It's all over, she's gone and she'll never come back. I shuddered, wiping my tears away before walking towards Helga's favourite place.

I stepped in through the doors, gazing around. Bronze candelabras were all around the room, sending light swirling all around. Dark pine bookcases lined the walls, full of books of all sizes, shapes and more, with smaller, similar ones around a circular table in the centre of the room, surrounded by comfortable burgundy chairs. I gulped. looking around. Something was wrong.

The bookcases were never that neat, the carpet was never this clean, the curtains were never open. My first feeling was fear, as i backed against the wall, before i finally saw something on the table, a glimpse of black.

I stepped forwards, looking down at the table. The cover was black with golden tinted engraved lettering on it. The bottom left corner was tinted, wet and sticky. I covered my mouth as i read the lettering. "Death and how it makes us..." I whispered, lifting up the book as i avoided the blood.

Other than the blood, it seemed pristine, despite the fact Helga had held it with her for years. Moisture pricked at my eyes, as i weighed the book in my hands.

It didn't seem to heavy, for a book of it's stature. It was over 500 pages, but it didn't seem heavy; At least, it didn't feel heavy physically. No, it was its metaphorical weight, its sentimental weight than made it pull down on my weak heartstrings. It was Helga's book, and she died before she could finish it.

I solemnly returned to my room, clutching the book close, as if it fuelled the thudding in my chest. I stopped in front of my door, looking around. The blood was gone from the carpet, and from the door. I reached out to the handle, shaking; She might still be in there, dangling like bait from a fish-hook with blood dribbling to the floor. My best friend might have still been hanging there, dead, and I still wuldn't be able to save her. Slowly, i twisted the bronze doorhandle and looked in. It was normal.

My room was normal. Nothing seemed to remind me of the event. If it wasn't me that found her, I would never have even known it happened. But I did find her, and I did see what happened. I saw her dead, I saw what her killer did to her. 'Helga deserves justice... I will get it for her...'
