Part 13

Alex noticed that someone was following him.

It started yesterday as he got Kate out of school and drove her back to Layla.

A black Mercedes was following him even to work.

Although he was a suspect in Tess' kidnapping , there were still cases for him to work on and not being charged for her kidnapping the director called him to work.

He noticed that now a man with a hood followed him where ever he went.

Alex was sitting in a cafe when the hooded figure entered the cafe.He didn't order anything, he just sat behind.

Ignoring him Alex concentrated on his work.There was an important client coming today so he waited for him impatiently.

Suddenly someone sat in front of him.

-It's been a while since I last saw you...-She smiled to him.

-Tess, what are you doing here, you know I've got a restraining order...-Alex looked nervously.

-It's okay there are no guards around here, and you're the one who's got a restraining order not me...so I can visit you when ever I want.-She giggled.

Alex made a sad grin.-Why do you still want to see me Tess, after everything I did to you...why?-He whispered.

-Because you were different Alex, II can't explain exactly why I don't hate you, I just know that when I saw Kate, there was no way I could doubt in you...-

He shook his head knowing how stubborn Tess is.

-When is Austin coming out?-

-Next week.-

Then the client came and Alex waved to him.

-You should go now Tess...-

She nodded and sadly left the cafe.

-Welcome mister Ballard...-

Tess didn't go home, she walked to Layla's apartment.

Layla never met her before, but Tess saw partly remembered where the apartment was.

She didn't ring the door bell but slightly knocked.

-Who is it.-Tess heard a tiny voice ask form the other side.

-Kate, can you tell Layla Tess is here.-

She heard as Kate ran away and then not long after Layla appeared.

-Tess...-She whispered and closed the door behind her.-What are you doing here?-

-I just wanted to see how are the twins doing...-

-They're fine, you can leave now...-

-Layla!-Tess stopped her.-Why are you so cold to me?-

-I'm not cold Tess, I confused...-She lowered her voice.-Alex kidnapped you, and he only got away with a restriction order, and there's a word they're still looking for the kidnapper, that's what I don't get Tess, why did you help him?-

-Because of Kate, Layla do you know how happy I am to see her talk, run, and play like a normal child...-

-Still that doesn't mean Alex should go unpunished...-

Tess was shocked.-You want him in jail?-

-He's a criminal Tess, and I don't know why you're defending him!-

-Maybe I'm defending him because I like him...-

-Layla shook her head.-Good bye Tess!-

She slowly closed the door and Tess left angry and confused.

Those things she said, was it really like that.She didn't know.

-Do I really like him?-She thought to herself.

-Did you say something miss.-

-Aah!-Tess was startled by her own security guard.She thought she left them all at the house.

This was a new guard and she could bet in her favorite necklace her father made him follow her everywhere.

-What are you doing here?-She asked trying to figure out if he saw her with Alex or not.

-Don't worry I won't tell the president if you let me follow you...-

-You...uh!-Tess said angrily-I don't want you near me, there has to be some distance!-

The guard nodded and she started walking.
