Lucas on the right---------->___________________
Xenelle's POV:
WHAT. THE. HELL.
That was the first thought that had become fixed into my mind when Quam had rushed out of the room. I mean, yeah, she doesn't like history, but that does not give the the permission to just rudely barge out of the room! Usually, we hang out after class and talk to Lucas, with me always ending up blushing, and then go to the cafeteria. But today, she just ran out to god knows where.
"What's up with Quamel?", Lucas asked me.
"Today, I honestly don't know. I'm as confused as hell. She is rude, obnoxious, blunt and sarcastic but she has her own reasons. I don't know what happened today; she never acts like that."
Seeing her freak out, I got worried. Quamel is the most carefree soul on this planet; and if something is freaking her out, we should all be panicking and running helter-skelter in concern.
"We should search for her; she didn't look so well."
Startled at the new voice, I turned around to find Tom standing awkwardly scratching the back of his neck, as if he had blurted out something not meant to be heard by other ears. His cheeks were still flushed from his encounter with Quam and was fidgeting with the strap of his bag, probably nervous.
"Are you sure, Tom? Quam is a big girl, she could be perfectly fine." I could hear the frown in Lucas' voice. I don't think he was that fond of Tom, not that I'm complaining. He does give off these weird vibes that seem to say 'Come near me and you'll regret it.' But so did Quam, only with a merrier and a more positive aura around her. So I shrugged it off.
"Nevertheless, I really think that we should go find her."
Jeez, Tom was insisting a lot. Why? Something was definitely going on between Quam and him; first she gasped when he entered, the whole time Tom was in the class he couldn't seem to lift his eyes off her, she blushed- for the first time, and then got paler than a new sheet of paper and simply took off at the end of the class. Something was going on that was off the charts.
"I guess I have to agree. She does seem to attract trouble wherever she walks." Lucas said before I could intervene.
"Cool!" Tom's face instantly lit up.
Lucas and I both gave each other confused looks.
******************************
"Let's check in the cafeteria and all the other obvious places. If we still don't find her, I reckon we split up and continue." Tom said, with a focused look. We muttered our yeahs and left towards the cafeteria.
I wasn't thinking much about finding Quam. When she wants, she will vanish off the face of the earth and we will never be able to find her. She will only reveal herself at her own terms, when she will like it. In the end, she will show up in some weird place.
In reality, what I was really thinking about was the apparent 'chemistry' between Quam and Tom. This guy certainly got more attention from my best friend than the the entire male population combined. She never cared about the guys in our grade and only believed in flings and friends - with - benefits type of a relationship. For her, love was a symbol of weakness and inferior command over the mind. She had given such a different reaction even though she had met him for the first time today. Wait, did she meet him anytime before? Oh, she has so much to explain!
We searched the cafeteria, the lobby, the gym, the halls, the auditorium, the locker rooms, the washrooms, and all the classes where Quam could logically be. But Quam and logic never go hand in hand, do they?
