(Still 3rd person POV)
Ciel couldn't sleep. After (your name)'s left, (your name) had decided to watch anime. What anime, you might ask? Well, Black Butler, of course! Ciel was still quite freaked out to find out that not only did millions of people know exactly what goes on in the Phantomhive manor, but that they caught it on camera (although he didn't know that you could do this, seeing as how he lives in Victorian England). He's still questioning himself on how they were able to get it in colour, considering the limitations of technology where he was from. Grell was just glad that whenever he showed up, that he had remembered to put make-up on, but not happy to know that people have seen him when he was pretending to be a human, because he couldn't wear make-up then.
Giving up on sleep, Ciel stretched and stood up. Sebastian opened a single eye, and said, "Young Master? Where is it that you are going, if I may ask?". Ciel flinched: he forgot that demons don't necessarily need sleep. Claude opened his eyes, only to roll them and close them again.
"I'm having difficulty sleeping, that is all. I'm simply going for a walk," Ciel stated, jumping off (your name)'s bed, his tail and head held high. "As you wish, my Lord," Sebastian gave his signature smirk and closed his eyes, laying his head back down onto his paws. The contract mark on the back of his left paw glowed a brightly purple, for a moment, before vanishing again behind his raven-black fur.
Ciel, meanwhile, had wandered into the living room. He jumped up onto the window sill (struggling to do so, seeing as he's only a kitten), and gazed out onto the moonlit streets of London. He wasn't sure as to whether or not it was even London. For one, there are no horse-drawn carriages in sight, instead cars, and very strange-looking ones at that, were stood stationary at the side of the road, and a few passing by every now and again. A group of drunken teenagers stumbled past the window, laughing and singing loudly. Ciel found it strange that the woman wasn't wearing a dress, and instead wearing what looked to be men's attire. The only feminine things that she was wearings, as far as Ciel could see in semi-darkness were large, silver hoops in her ears and tall high heels. They stumbled past.
"Ciel?" he heard a voice, and when he turned around, he saw (your name) holding a glass of water. She put the glass down onto the coffee table and sat on the window sill next to Ciel. She smiled before she gently stroked in between his ears, earning soft purrs as Ciel rubbed the side of his face into the palm of her hand. She chuckled softly.
"Can't sleep, huh?" she asked. ("Yeah..." Ciel replied in between his purrs.) (your name) seemed to understand, for she said, "Yeah. This must be strange for all of you. You kittens must have been treated horribly by your last owner, to be separated from your mother and having someone potentially scar your eye," she kissed Ciel on the head, "I'm gonna go back to bed. I'll see you in the morning."
(your name) stood up and, after recollecting her glass of water, left Ciel sitting at the window for the comfort of her bed and the others. Because of what she said, Ciel started to contemplate what (your name) had said.
He assumed that (your name) thought they were all siblings (him, Alois, Sebastian, Claude, Grell and Undertaker) and that some human had abused them and separated them from their mother. In some ways, that was true, but Ciel was pretty confident that he had no siblings, let alone ones that are demons and Grim Reapers, and Alois Trancy of all people. But she had a point. He had the only home he had ever known taken away from him and destroyed, along with his mother and father and dog Sebastian. Tanaka and himself were the only ones who survived the fire. He had then been kidnapped by the cult who had been responsible for the fire, and branded and tortured by them. That's how he had met Sebastian...
He whispered words of protection to him, said he would always be there by his side, that he'd obey every command and wish, all for the price any demon is after, his soul. Ciel wanted revenge, and Sebastian told him that he would lead him to his revenge, all for the price of his soul, a soul that any demon would fight over for.
He had never even stopped to consider what other sort of Hell Alois had been through, what with his revenge. He had never even considered what it would be like to have an old perverted man use you and many other boys like himself for his own pleasures. To see everyone in an entire village die right before your eyes, and ending with the brother he loved. Now that I think about it, Ciel pondered, Alois was right. We're not so different from each other at all!
Now he thought of Sebastian, of how long he'd been starved of souls. Three years at least, for he preferred to not have snacks before he eats his meals. Ciel doesn't remember ever being as hungry as Sebastian is, and sure when he was in France he was hungry enough even to accept Undertaker's dog biscuits, but that must be nothing compared to what Sebastian must be feeling. Claude and the other demons at the Trancy manor must feel the same.
Ciel flattened his ears tightly against his head when remembering all the pain he had caused others around him, even to those who can't physically die.
He thought of his fiancée, Elizabeth, and of how she always tried her best to make him happy, and he had always shut her out. She had said that she missed Ciel from before the fire incident, when he would always smile and laugh and be happy. Ciel had forgotten how to do so, he had grown up too fast for Elizabeth's liking. He thought of Madam Red, who had been driven mad by the loss of her sister, Rachel Phantomhive, and her husband, a man whom Madam Red had once loved. She was so overcome with grief that she resorted to becoming Jack the Ripper with a certain red-headed Reaper, which resulted in her death.
How many others have stood in front of danger and gave their lives in exchange for my safety, Ciel thought miserably, too many to count.
He then thought of Finny, Mey-Rin and Bard. Incompetent though they were being servants, they lay down their lives to help protect the Earl of Phantomhive from any outside threat that threatened the inhabitants of the manor. Even they, who are always cheerful and positive, have terrible backstories, of which they pretend that they happened, and that they are just a maid, gardener and cook. He even thought back to how distraught Prince Soma and his servant Agni had been when they found out that he lost all his memories of them.
Ciel laid down on the window sill and closed his eyes, falling asleep, and dreamt of all the people he loved and everyone else in his life, just as a clock on the wall chimed 3 o'clock: 3am.
(A/N: Yeah... I know that this chapter is a bit dark and didn't really go anywhere to progress the story but I hope you liked it anyway. I just used this as a filler because I had no idea what to write.)
