Charlotte Pov
"Adolebitque anima mea, say it." He ordered with a stern voice. "What does it mean?"
"Say it!"
"Charlotte! Say it!" Alexander repeated again, I moved away from him so I could now face him, his body seemed frozen but his eyes had turned a dark purple. A few seconds later he began to shake, he looked almost possessed. "Alex?" His eyes met mine and I jumped back, he ran towards me and I bolted to the door, the fabric of my dress split when my heels stepped on the front of it. I stumbled to the door and threw myself against it, with fumbling and panic I managed to open the door and step through it. I locked Alexander in the room and gripped onto the handle as he rattles it.
"Orpheius!" I yell through the house, I repeat myself louder and louder until Wynsor and Orpheius throw the door open at the bottom of the stairs. "What's going-"
"Alex has gone insane, something's in his head." The door is pulled off its hinges and I staggered back into the railing. Orpheius stepped in front of me and gripped his brother, he placed his hand on his chest and dragged the demons from Alexander's mouth. Alexander collapsed onto the floor with his brother stood over him. "What happened?"
"I dunno, he asked me to say some words and he just seemed to change- I dunno." I panicked getting my breath back and step over Alexander's body, Orpheius held me in his arms when I hugged him unknowingly. "What words?"
"It was Latin-"
"What words?!" He pushed again. "Adolebitque anima mea." I struggled to say the words but when I did Orpheius dragged me away from Alex and down the stairs to the foyer.
"Your shadows got in his head, that's all." Orpheius had genuine fear in his eyes and seeing that made me panic. "What does it mean?" I asked again.
"I'm gonna take him to his room." He completely ignored my question just like Alexander had, then again I don't think that was Alex. "Orpheius!-"
"Leave it Charlotte!" I jumped at how loud he shouted and looked down at the floor. "You don't need to know so don't ask!" He yelled once more and I took a step back from him.
"Fine, I'll find out for myself!" I stomp my foot like a child and run down the stairs, clinging to my dress before it falls apart. I fling a door open and run through into my bedroom before he had a chance to follow me, I locked the door. "Wynsor!"
"Miss Charlotte?" He knocked on the door and I quickly opened it to let him in. His grey form waddled into my room, dressed in his usual clothing. "How can I help you?"
"I need a library that has Latin translations." I pull open my wardrobe and throw on a shorter dress. Wynsor hesitated near the door. "I've been told to hold that information from you."
"Fine, is there any locked rooms in this house?" I finish tieing the corset with my leg pressed against the bed. "Two, the master bedroom and..." he couldn't say anymore and that gave me all I needed to know. I gathered he couldn't tell me how to open the door but my guess is Alexander could.
"Thank you, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't tell Orpheius about this." I stepped towards my door but Wynsor cleared his throat. "If you don't mind me asking Miss Charlotte but Alexander had told me you and master were in some sort of a relationship and now you're doing everything to avoid him?"
"We are not in a relationship, Alexander got it wrong. We had a night together and that was that." I bid Wynsor farewell and call out Alexander's name. The door opened on its own and I saw him sleeping soundlessly in his bed. Why can't we be in a relationship? I know I haven't been here long but Orpheius- there is just something else about him.
