Cathy's POV

Once I reached my room, I struggled to take off my shoes. They finally kicked off and I made my way to my bed. Alex and Kenna give me looks, but I say nothing. I don't want to talk about this, so I take my place in my bed and shut my eyes.

--

I hardly slept; I just kept tossing and turning. Finally at 6:30 I gave up on trying to fall back asleep. So I got up quietly, and padded to the bathroom careful not to wake anyone up. I didn't even bother to change my clothes from yesterday, I just left.

The grass is dewy, and cold. I should've opted for better shoes than my Tom's.

For some reason I just felt like walking. I figured I would feel a lot better if I did. I just need time to let my thoughts roam around and settle them.

I half a lap around the resort until I reached the side where most of the staff stays. I had never really came across this side of the resort, I had never really seen what it looked like either. When I was younger my dad always told me to stay away from this side, but I never understood his reasoning. So I continue to stride down the rocky path and gaze at all the rooms. It's nicer than what I had imagined as a kid.

Just as I think I'm alone, there's someone standing on their balcony. I squint but I can't really make out who or if I've seen them before. I don't all of the staff, but I've met a lot of them.

When I get closer, the image becomes clearer. The person is smoking; I didn't even know you could smoke here. Shows how much I know. The strong figure turns their head towards me and the mess of hair on top of his head clues me in on who it is.

Harry.

The rising sun gives him a different look. He looks handsome. I didn't know he smoked. I never smelt it on him, not even in his car. He looks down at me, cigarette still burning in his hand.

"Look who it is," he stands up straighter with a grin on his lips.

"Good morning," I say laughing. I use my hand to shield my eyes from the bright sun so I can see him.

"What are you doing up so early?" He asks, taking another puff from his cigarette. I'm surprised he's not hiding this from me. But I kind of like it.

"I could say the same to you."

"I have work in two hours," he flicks the cigarette butt from his fingers. "What's your excuse?"

"I couldn't sleep." I shrug.

He gestures for me to come up to his balcony, and I begin to climb the steps.

"I didn't know you smoked," I nudge to the butt on the ground below us.

"Oh, yeah," he rubs the back of his neck. "I don't do it all the time though." He flushes nervously.

"It's ok, I'm not like mad at you or anything. I just didn't peg you for a smoker." I explain myself.

He sighs. "I just do it when there's a lot on my mind." He shrugs looking off.

I lean against the railing and take in the view. It's not like the ones we get back at the guest rooms, but it's pretty. There's talk trees adjacent to the buildings, a few golf carts that they use to get around the resort, but you can't really see the lake.

"So what's on your mind?" His voice pulls me out of my thoughts. Those bright emerald eyes are looking down on mine.

"I just wish my brother was still around." I gently kick the bottom of the railing. I just can't look anyone in the face when I talk about him.
