Part 1
Now Riley is something quite different from Cherrie and yet Cherrie and Riley share a special bond together but not as special as the bond between Riley and Rosalie. Let's just say Rs stick together for life.
Riley and I have been studying in the same school from the very start of our education but we were in different sections until we stepped in fourth standard. I still wonder how was I not able to see the girl with the most straight hair that were pure silk.
Well, our friendship started in fourth standard and well, it just started with a simple 'hi'.
This might come as a shock to all of you who have seen my now five-foot-three-inch frame but I was once the tallest girl in our group but when Riley who was a little more taller than I was, came in our group, a competition took birth of being better in every aspect. Don't judge me, I envied her for her height but I didn't do mean things to her. Go ask her. It's not like I turned in a green little monster. It was healthy envying. If that exists but whatever, Riley when you read this, you know I wouldn't have wanted to kill you back then. At least not at that time.
Moving on, I'll give you people another shocker. It's here. I've never talked about it but it's here.
I wasn't always good at English. Damn right. I stuttered when I talked. I couldn't put right words together. I was always under-confident. I was always a nervous wreck too and then there was Riley, shining in the glory with her stupid shiny hair.
Did I write stupid? Oh no, I meant silky. Silky shiny hair. I wouldn't do that to you Riley, yep you got it right. Maybe I should just stop this and move on, okay, Riley, you see, came up with fluent speaking skills and vocabulary that was unheard to my ears and unacquainted with my brain. Thus, I got another reason to proceed my healthy envying.
Mind you, my beautiful readers, this was loaded with extra melted chees- oh, sarcasm.
Damn! Give me some pizza please!
Anyhow, days went on and on and I got more reasons to be jealous of her and then one day, I decided to clear my mind, stand up and act like a human being rather than a girl.
A girly human maybe.
Yes, that's okay now.
So since that day, began a new blissful decade of our friendship. I still remember laughing together with the group about her declaration that pretty much came out every year about her going to Canada to continue her further studies. Hahaha, oh and her tutor!
Hahahahaha. Please don't kill me.
You see, Riley had once a tutor named, Himesh Reshamia. Who is he, you ask?
Well, he was a Indian singer who made his hits once upon a time. Alex and I used to admire him and then . . . .
Well, we grew up to have a taste in music and choice and choose to hate him. Let's just say Riley never heard the end of the constant nagging that we made sure she endured. All I know is, for as long as we shall live, Riley will always be teased for it and she wouldn't want it any other way.
That's what is best about Riley. She is a great listener and she never gets angry. She doesn't minds jokes no matter how ugly they are - you know sour facts that you don't want to hear. This is what she taught me too. I learnt not to take your friend's teasing to your heart which originally I must admit, I did. Very much, actually.
She's patient and she'll handle your mood swings without a word of complain. Though my advice to you is: NEVER EVER GET ON HER NERVE.
I am serious, don't ever. Once somebody from our class made her chase a thing for a whole bubblegum hour! When the clock finally marked the completion of that hour, Riley was fuming like a bull. Imagine a bull with steam blowing off from its ears and nose and . . . Yeah, it's ugly and so is her anger. The wrath that was bestowed upon that person is inexplicable on many levels. I'm sort of scaring few guys off from this. Te he.
