"Lizzyyyy," Daisy, my roommate screamed as I opened the door, "you're back," she came and hugged me.
"What the hell did you do?" I asked and she gave a nervous laugh.
"Well, I may or may not have pulled the last string."
"What did you-" I stopped dead in my track seeing the luggage in the room, "-do?"
"Mia's leaving," she said really fast and ran off, almost like a child. I just put my head in my hand and sighed.
Mia's our other roommate, and she and daisy kind of don't like each other, they just haven't hit it off since on Mia's first day with us, Daisy pulled a prank on her, and let's say Mia's kind of a, how do I put it without hurting anyone's feelings? Kind of a bitchy party pooper whom didn't take it well.
Though they both can be pain in the asses, they're both my friends, besides Mia's my cousin, and we do need to house's rent, Daisy and I can't do this on our own.
Well done, Daisy, now we need another roommate.
"Will you please reconsider your decision?" I said stopping her from getting out.
"no, I've tried way too much, Daisy and I can't talk to each other, let alone live together," she replied, "besides there are too many secrets to keep," she muttered under her breath, I guess I wasn't supposed to her this, but I couldn't help but ask, "what secrets?"
Her face became redder and her eyes widened, she didn't reply, she just took her bags and left.
Oh well, I'm not going to invade her privacy.
Now, we need a new roommate. Let's starts by posting it online and seeing who responds.
Yeah, I know, not the best or safest option, but my list of acquaintances who I can offer a home to is only getting shorter by the second.
"Daisy," I shouted guessing she was in her room.
"Yeah?"
"I announced our need for a roommate online, now I'm going to go to the library, see you later."
I heard a faint "bye" while I closed the apartment door. It still wasn't too dark outside, and I could take my time walking to the library while just enjoying the day. It's usually really hard to do that when you have stuff to do back to back, so it's nice to take a break from everything.
I get to the library and start searching for all the books that might help, as I have a research to do on French monarchy.
It may seem boring, but it's actually very interesting. And books are usually very old and rustic which I think just adds to the charm.
Says the history student.
Well, yeah, I know, not everyone will have the same opinion as me. I don't really care though.
I take the first book and open it, a photo falling directly on my lap from it. I don't really pay attention to it, until I see the people in it.
I quickly go on my laptop and search paintings of them, just to make sure. And frankly enough, here they are, the same exact people.
King Francis II of France.
Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland.
What the freaking hell?
Photography didn't exist in the 16th century; this couldn't exist, especially in colours.
Such a step in history could not be missed, there had to be a misunderstanding.
Though, what freaked me out the most wasn't even that. It was that in the midst of the big family in the picture, there was also me.
Maybe a lookalike?
Well I didn't know, I just knew I had to borrow this book and start searching for a rational explanation.
