Asia's POV

I stare at my phone, hesitant to answer it.
"Girl play me in 8 ball. I been beating everybody ass-" Sydney stops mid sentence and looks at me.

"What's wr-" I hold my index finger up, signaling her to hold on before she can ask me anything and finally slide my finger across the screen, answering it.

"Hello?" I say trying not to sound nervous but fail miserably.

"Hi babygirl, how are you?" My mother asks in a high pitch tone. "I've missed you so much!"

"I'm doing great mom and I miss you too." I reply. Sydney hears the word 'Mom' and her calm expression goes to anxious in a second. Sydney signals me to go inside her room.

She closes the door while I go to sit on her bed. I put my phone on speaker and place it beside me.

"So how's college going Ms.FutureNurse? Have you and your sister been handling your classes pretty well?" Our mother asks and Sydney sighs lowly.

I feel sweat build up in the palms of my hands from the anxiety and nervousness I get from lying to my mother.

As much as I hate lying to her, I can't tell her what I'm really doing. We've stopped going to some of our classes since we got chosen to be one of Chris's back up dancers.

"Everything's going really well and yeah we have." I lie right through my teeth knowing damn well we haven't went to our classes in about three weeks.

"That's good baby. As long as you girls keep your grades up in your classes. You know college is very important."

"Yeah ma, we know." Sydney and I respond at the same time.

"Well that's all. I was just calling to check on how you girls were. If y'all need anything just call me or your father." She says. "Yes ma'am, will do." I reply.

"I love you girls, be careful out there okay?" "We love you more ma and we will." I look at Sydney who is stuffing her face with Rap Snacks.

"Okay. I have to go tend to your father. He's having trouble fixing the oven light." We hear glass breaking in the background and my father groaning.

"Go get a professional please. I don't want to hear about him having to go to the hospital for a broken hip or something." I say laughing slightly, but honestly. He always tries to be the man of the house and fix things himself when they break or wear out.

"I am right now hun. I will talk to you later." She says. "Bye ma!" Sydney shouts with chips in her mouth. "Bye Syd. Love you girls." She says once again. "We love you more mom, bye." I end the call and lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

"That was close but here..I tried to save you some." Sydney says smiling, handing me a bag of crumbs.

I snatch the empty bag of chips out of her hand and throw it away. "I oughta smack you, fat ass." I say glaring at her.

"You know better. Anyways, I'm bored sis." Sydney says.

"What do you suppose we do?" I ask her.

She sits on the edge of the bed and looks at me.

"Let's invite Chris over."
