Part 10

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Well at least it was worth the shot." He said licking his lips.

She glared at him and he smirked saying "Don't act like you didn't enjoy that princess."

"Asshole."

"I picked you because I'm selfish. I couldn't let you go princess. Don't you get it, you're mine. No on else can have you. No one else can touch you but me."

"I hate you." She said and went to smack him but he caught her wrist.

"And you're sexy as hell when you're angry with me. And I know for a fact you're lying when you say that you hate me."

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me the real reason why you keep secrets."

He looked at her, straight in her eyes. She was fierce and strong. Compass yanked her wrist free and didn't dare break eye contact with him. She was not leaving here until she knew the truth and if he didn't say it then it was done, the deal was off. He took a deep breath and turned away passing a hand through his hair.

"They're after you. I don't have exact names, but I know someone is after you. You and your entire family line is in danger. I sent Stella to watch over you while I was gone. She's the only one besides Thomas that I trust. Your grandmother knows what's going on I told her before I left. She advised me not to tell you anything just yet. But you, you're stubborn and want to know everything. The group that killed William is working for whoever wants you dead. I got close to you because I wanted to know why a group was after your line. I didn't know I would end up so close to you. I did not intend to get close to you like I did, but once I knew, it was too late I offered you the deal. That deal keeps you safe and it helps me know that you're okay." He explained leaving her shocked.

"So wait you're telling me you made a deal with me because you're possessive of me?"

"Princes you have yet to see me possessive over you. I want to make sure you're always safe." He said as he played with a loose curl that was on her shoulder.

Compass was about to say something but the crowd of dancers began counting down from five.

Within seconds they all yelled "Happy Halloween!"

"Happy Halloween princess." Phoenix said then kissed the side of her head before leaving.

Compass didn't look at him while he walked away. She stared at the two masks that were on the floor. Compass bent down to retrieve the masks. Just like that, at the stroke of midnight the fairytale ended. This time she got most of her answers and she'll be able to keep the memories as well. She put her mask back on to keep her identity a secret. She wanted to know who was after her but now, she needs to stay hidden to keep her grandmother safe as well.
