Frisk's POV:
If my feet were wheels, they would have screeched to a halt. We both saw him at the same time.
Nightmare.
"Hello girls," He greeted us with that sly tone.
I could feel my chest tighten and my throat compress. I couldn't move. I couldn't move away from the monster that had almost killed me.
Edith looked over at me with a frightened look in her eyes, not sure what to do. I didn't have a plan, either.
"N-Nightmare?" I choked out, finally building the power to step back and stand beside Edith.
He grinned, his teeth shimmering against the rest of his dark, melting body. "Miss me, Frisk?"
"Why are you here?" I asked with a sudden command in my voice.
"Oh, you're not as soft anymore?" He slowly circled the two of us, scanning us up and down. "I'm impressed. And I'm sure by now you've figured out what I want. What my little plan is."
"I do know. I just want to hear you say it." I answered with a poisonous venom in my voice.
"I want you, and all the other Frisks, dead. I want to watch the life drain out of their eyes, then their veins, then their Souls. I want to be there in the final moments of their life. I want to feel the fear and anger and disdain they have for me. I want to be their Angel of Death."
"You won't win. I won't let you." I turned to him, ready to fight despite not having a weapon and being horrified by this monster of a monster.
"You can't stop me. Neither of you can," He turned to look over to Edith, "I knew that the moment your dear old dad turned on both you and your mother. If he was one of the strongest monsters in the Underground, capturing you and your mom will be a walk in the park."
"Shut up," She spoke in a dejected tone, looking at the ground.
"Why should I? Your dad was weak, and he still is. If he was, certainly, you are."
"Shut up!" She snapped, her right eye flaring up a deep purple color.
"Aww, the little girl is mad. What are you going to do? Hurt me? Kill me? I'm not the only one with a hand in this plan. The others will come after you. They won't be as nice."
"Go to hell!" She summoned attacks behind her.
I had never seen anyone this furious before.
"Where do you think I was made?" He beamed, going over to her.
I took a step to stop him, but before I could I felt myself being teleported back.
"Sans!" I shouted, tripping back as I stopped teleporting.
He appeared where I was, slicing at Nightmare as he tried to attack Edith. The remnants of a skeleton stepped back, looking truly joyed at the sight of Sans.
"Come to try and stop me again?"
Sans glared but said nothing. He teleported behind Nightmare and tried to attack him from behind, Edith attacking from the front. Narrowly dodging the assault from both sides, he disappeared and reappeared away from the two.
He laughed maniacally, "You two think you can win? That's adorable!"
I let out a shrill scream as Chara suddenly grabbed me, putting a hand over my mouth and a blade against my stomach. I felt tears pierce my eyes as my entire body went still.
"Frisk!" Sans yelled, not making a move to attack.
Edith looked over, her body going still. I could see her hands shaking ever so slightly, a strange look in her eyes.
"Isn't this oh-so-familiar, Sans? Though, this time, it's one of your best friends about to kill Frisk, and not myself."
"What about your little speech?" Edith pointed out, "Didn't you want to kill them all?"
"You're right, dear Edith," He turned to her for a few seconds, gently gliding his fingers along a few strand hairs from Edith's bun, "But this is better entertainment."
She cringed as Nightmare moved the blonde-brown strands, turning away from him. He walked to her side, leaning in and whispering, "So are your powers."
I got a surge of energy, an internal rage taking over, and I elbowed Chara as hard as I could. I sucked in my stomach and she stumbled back, looking at me with something reminiscent of shock.
I ran towards Sans and Edith grabbed Nightmare's arm, pushing him back. He let himself walk backward and teleported Chara to his side.
"I'll get you eventually. Both of you." He looked at Edith and then me as he stated that.
With that, he and Chara disappeared, leaving the three of us stunned and out of breath. I finally let myself panic, crying silently as Sans hugged me. I could see Edith taking down her bun, running her fingers through the hairs a few times before putting it back up, tighter and neater this time.
"Chara was a Red Harren. She was a distraction to get you two out of the house and away from people who could protect you. I can't believe I fell for it. . ." He was frustrated.
"We all fell for it," Edith spoke before I could, "We made it out alive. We're still here, and we're safe, and that's all that matters. We'll stop them. We'll stop them soon. Until then, we need to train and we need to get ready for whatever else they're planning."
"Whatever else?" I asked.
"If killing all the Frisks in the multiverse was just the plan, it's a poor one. He wants power. He wants power for a reason. We need to figure out what that reason is before he can cause more damage, to our universe or another."
I nodded, pulling out of the hug with Sans.
"Let's prepare, then."
