Quiet

The next few weeks flew by, and I was being ignored by my so called "loving family". I felt upset about it, but I couldn't talk to them, they wouldn't understand.  Mostly everyone noticed how quiet I've been, they tried to get me to do something but I was too disappointed to even talk to them.  My Mom would try to start small talk "How was your day"? I wouldn't say anything and head up to my room for some comfort from my cat. A gray and white kitten who I've loved since I adopted. I remember throwing a snowball at my brother and she turned up out of the blue so I scooped her up and took her inside to my room. That's where she got her name Snowball.
Mom knocks on my door "Hey, sweetie. Are you okay? You've been quiet lately and you barely touched your Chicken Adoboe. I made it especially for you. Can I come in to talk"? I roll my eyes, I don't want them in my room. "Sure Mom, come on in". She opens the door and walks over and sits on my bed. "Hey, what's going on"? "Just chilling in my room, why"? "Ever since Dylan came over a few days ago, you've been acting a little strange". I mentally slap myself before saying, "Mom I'm fine, He has nothing to do with why I'm acting this way". I lied, he has everything to do with why I'm upset, disappointed, and really confused. She nods, "Well he's joining us for dinner in ten minutes if you feel like coming down"? "I don't want to come down, but if you want me to convince you I'm fine than I will". I get up, run a brush through my hair, and join everyone at the preset dinner table. Dylan walks in and looks directly at me, I roll my eyes and drink my soda. He looks hurt and slowly takes a seat next to me. I eat, and listen to the family's conversation, "How was everyone's day? Hmmm? Oh, well then Taylor can start by telling us what's been bothering her lately", My stepdad says with a tiny smirk. "I just had a lot of homework, I'm honestly fine, no need to worry", I lie straight through my words. The only one who doesn't look convinced is Dylan , he looks across the table at me with uncertainty in his eyes. I knew he was gonna say something to me later on, and I wasn't feeling like dealing with him at the moment. After dinner, I cleared the dishes and washed them. I went to my room and grabbed my journal to start writing to get my mind off him, but as I was writing I noticed a creaking noise. Dylan opened my door and closed it quietly, I looked up. "What do you want"? He looked at me and came closer "Why are you acting weird"? "What do you mean"? He scoffed "Don't play dumb, you've been acting strange since I got here". I look at him and roll my eyes "I'm only acting weird because of homework". He scoffs again "Bullshit". "What do you want me to say? That I'm acting weird because we kissed? And you have a girlfriend"?! He looks down "Yea, I know. She's not my girlfriend anymore, I told her what happened and she said she didn't care". I laughed "Seriously"? He smiles "Yes, seriously". I ask him the question that's been on my mind for weeks, "Why did you kiss me"? He smiles, "I like you a lot, and I can no longer ignore my feelings for you". I smile and blush, "But I'm Me, a weirdo who loves reading, sucks at nerf, and is a bad liar". He grins "I like all that stuff about you, it's unique just like you". I bit my lip, he moves closer and our lips touch. He pulls me closer and we keep kissing, then he decides to stick his tongue into my mouth. I gasp, he laughs, and our tongues dance for dominance. Suddenly as we are kissing, the door creaks and standing in between it is my Step Dad looking shocked and in disbelief. We pull away quickly, he walks into the room and takes my hand leading me away from Dylan. Dylan looks confident "Sir, with your permission I'd like to Date your Daughter". My step Dad scowls, "I will think about it, before I snap and do something crazy, get out of my house now". Dylan looks at me uncertain of what to say, and he walks out the door making my heart drop. I may never see him again.
