It turns it the beeping was telling the doctors I was exhausted and needed to rest a few more hours.  My mom respectfully waited for visiting hours everyday, and I enjoyed her caressing my cheeks or stroking my back.  Within a few weeks, I was released but I didn't go back to Dylan, in fact I went back to my Mom and Step Dad's house.  They refused to let me get my stuff from Dylan's house so I told my Dad to ship all my stuff to the house once he'd gotten all my stuff from Dylan and his to be fiancé Vanessa.  He told me he would but if Dylan didn't let him, that he would buy me new stuff.   Months past and I got a letter from Miami College asking I go there with a full scholarship but I turned it down because Dylan was gonna be there.  I decided to earn the money myself, and go to NYU.  I worked as a bar waitress for eighteen months, working at least twelve hours a day.  Once I made enough money, NYU sent a rejection letter so I gave up on going there instead I went to UTSA in San Antonio Texas.   I had finished my first book draft and when they took a look, they published it right away which shocked me.  I was given full credit and graduated early, starting my Author career.  I was in town one day to take a break from the stress of my deadline, I walked into a cute little diner called Babe's.  I smelled the air, it smelled like barbecue brisket, and it made my taste buds go crazy.  I sat at a booth on my own, and when I ordered I noticed the guy in the booth next to me was constantly glancing my direction.  I smiled and waved him over, and he got up and sat right across from me.  "Hey, I'm Noremac.  I've never seen you in town before, what's your name"?   I smiled, "My name is Taylor, and I actually just moved here recently".   He grinned, "Are you living here permanently"?   "Yes, I am renting a small descent apartment right now".   He grins, "Well I bet your boyfriend loves a small cramped area, huh"?  I laugh, "I don't have a boyfriend".  He looks worried, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that.  I had no idea".  "I wasn't offended".  He sighs, "I'm glad because I don't wanna get slapped today".  I laugh, and he gently touches my hand. "What are you-".  He kisses me from across the booth, and I kiss back.  He pulls away and smiles, "I'm sorry I did that, I didn't know if it was too soon or-".  I laugh, "It's not too soon, and I don't mind".  He smiles, and the waiter comes to the table. "Oh, Shall start you off with something to drink"? I smile, "Yes, I'd like a glass of Mr.Pibb". The waiter laughs, "You know we have Dr.Pepper here, if you want"? I laugh and turn pink, "Of course, then I'll take a glass of Dr. Pepper,Please". The waiter smiles politely at Noremac, "For you sir? What would you like to drink"? He smiles, "I'll take a glass of Sweet tea if you don't mind". The waiter nods, "I'll have those drinks ready shortly". As we wait on the drinks, Noremac and I get to know each other a little better, and he says "I'm glad your deciding to live here, this town is full of history which I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas for your new book". I smile, "Thanks, and I'm actually glad I'm staying to". I was smiling, and having a great time when the door bell of the restraint chimes and in walks Dylan, looking exhausted, and very anxious. I turn my head away, and tell Noremac "I need to use the bathroom, I promise I'll be right back". I make it to the bathroom without him seeing me, and I rush into a stall and drop to the floor. I start crying, my Ex Fiancé is here most likely to make my life worse. I hear a knock on my stall, "Hey, are you okay"? It's our tables waitress, I slowly unlock the stall. "I'm not okay, my Ex just walked into the restaurant, and I think he's looking for me". The waitress kneels and pulls my head into her lap, and strokes my hair like my mother always does. The waitress is around probably thirty two, and she seems to know a lot about heartbreak. "Listen here, If he wants you back, you tell him to piss off. If he leaves he'll understand the pain he's caused you, and if he doesn't he's a real jerk". I nod my head and she lifts it up, "Alright little one, lets fix your makeup and get you back out there to the kindest gentleman in town". I raise my eyebrows, "You know Noremac"? She grins, "Honey, everyone is this town knows Noremac, he comes here everyday looking for a possibility, a possibility of finding love. He hasn't found it but now that he's met you, I think you both have found it". I blush, and she helps me fix my makeup. I smile at her, "Thank you, I really owe you". She frowns, "Dollface, you don't owe me a dime". I nod, and she and I both walk out of the bathroom. She parts her way to the kitchen, and I go back to my booth to find Dylan anxiously talking with Noremac. I freeze, but remember what The waitress told me about Noremac, and I walk over to my booth and sit down next to Noremac. Dylan definitely notices, "Taylor"? I look up at him, "I'm sorry, have we met"? He frowns, "You don't remember me? We were about to get married when I told you I still had feelings for Vanessa? You ran out the door, and left this on the table"? He pulls out the ring, "I was wrong, will you take me back"? I glance at Noremac, and squeeze his hand to assure him I'm not going anywhere with this idiot. I glance at Dylan, "Absolutely, NOT"! He frowns, "What? Why not? I just confessed I was wrong and that I still love you, and you just completely told me-". I wrinkle my nose, "I just told you to Piss Off, in the nicest way possible. I'm not going anywhere with you, I'm happy here in this town, in this restaurant, and I'm happy with Noremac so Piss Off"! He looks taken aback and he finally shows the side, I didn't know he had, "Taylor, you are just a bitch. You know that? You're little boyfriend or whatever over there is not gonna make you happy". I stand up, and walk towards like I'm gonna kiss him, but instead I punch him in the jaw. "Noremac is not a guy who makes me feel terrible about myself, he sees the real me. I'm glad to be with him, just seeing him makes me so happy. You don't know anything about him, and you have no room to judge so either Piss Off, or next time I'll break your nose". He stands up, and a tall muscular waiter grabs him and walks him out of the restaurant, and everybody starts clapping. Noremac stands up and embraces me, he holds me in his warm chest. "Taylor, I think I love you". I blush and kiss him, "I think I love you too". We sit back down, and enjoy our meal together and we talked about making a plan to write a book together sometime in the future. When I mention the word future, he kinda frowns. "I need to tell you something, I'm an Air Force pilot. I basically fly the planes, and fight with them in wars". I frown, "I don't want you to get hurt. Noremac, I really love you and I don't wanna have to bear the thought of losing you". He smiles, "I'm always careful, but I ship out to war next Tuesday. So, before that I was wondering if you wanted to go on a few dates? We could walk the night lit paths, go to a fancy restaurant, go dancing, or see a movie"? I smile, "Let's take the Night lit walk, come back to Babe's, and watch a movie". He grins, "It's like you read my mind". After lunch, we walk out of Babe's holding hands. He gets a call, and says he'll be right back and to go look around the LEGO store while he takes care of a quick errand. I walk in, and I notice a cute little boy and girl pulling their parents around the store. They point to the Legos that they want but their parents tell them "Sorry kids, your Dad and I don't have enough. Maybe next time". I frown, I approach them, "If it's alright, I'd like to offer to pay for their Lego sets"? They shake their heads "We couldn't ask you to do that, it's not right". I smile, "I want to do this for them, here take this money and have them get whatever they want". The parents smile at me, the Father gets out his wallet, "What do we owe you"? I smile, "Nothing, I just want to see your children walk out with the Lego sets they've always wanted. You're only a kid once". They embrace me, "Thank you so much". I watch them surprise their kids, and I frown. If Noremac and I last, I want to have his kids and do stuff like this for them. The door rings and in walks Noremac, I smile and we walk out holding hands. He's carrying something, a small bag but it's all wrapped up. I shrug it off, I shouldn't pry into his business. Although my curiosity is bothering me, what is really in that bag? Does it have anything to do with me?
