"Reunion: re·un·ion      /rēˈyonyən/     noun      1. an instance of two or more people coming together again after a period of separation"

Avem bit her lip as she waited for a response from the senator. She'd answered Senator Amidala's questions, she'd given a bit of semi-fabricated information about herself, she'd answered Asaari's questions. The head of security and the senator were now standing, off to the side, heads together, probably discussing whether or not to accept or reject Avem's request to become a handmaiden. Asaari's back was to her, but she could see Padme's constant glances up and over Asaari's shoulder towards her. She fidgeted with the strap of her pack and shuffled her feet with a sinking sensation in her chest as the taller woman turned back to her. She looked down at the ground as Asaari approached her, arms crossed. Avem stole a furtive glance up and immediately looked back down at her boots, face burning.

"Senator Amidala currently does not require another handmaiden," said Asaari, placing a gentle hand on Avem's shoulder.

A shivering jolt laced through Avem's body, and suddenly her face was hot and chest a little tight. Hand on the shoulder. Hand. On the shoulder. A strange buzzing tone drilled into her skull, humming loudly and drowning out the world around her. Then the hand tapped. And tapped again. Avem shook her head and started, looking up and very nearly regretting it. Asaari was looking at her with an expectant, questioning gaze. She must have said something.

"Um. Whasteyod- sorry, eh, what did you say?" Avem choked on her sentence as she attempted to unmerge the words she'd accidentally smashed together.

A semi-amused sigh.

"I said," said Asaari, "that despite the fact Senator Amidala isn't currently looking for another handmaiden, that we'd love to have you- I'd love to have you as, essentially, my apprentice. I'd teach you how to protect the Senator with what skills you already know, and at the same time how to balance with other duties. We have a wonderful staff, and I'm sure they'll love to educate you."

Avem brought her eyes back to the safety of her boots.

"Th-thank you s-so much..."

"Welcome to the team," Asaari said, looking down at the small girl.

Keeping her eyes on the ground, Avem gave a little smile of appreciation. Looks like she might have a better chance to accomplish her mission than she thought- she was being handed access to information about everyone, from everyone!

Not to mention that being nearer to Asaari would be nice. Also not nice. But still. Very nice.

"Thank you senator, Miss Asaari," she said, as formally as she could manage.

"If you'll please follow me then, I'll give you a tour."Asaari's voice was kind and warm, but formal and controlled.

"Right then," agreed Avem, "Let's go."

The tour wasn't very interesting. It consisted of walking from the Senator's room to the a isolated control room with a console set dead in the middle. That took fifteen minutes alone to walk there. Avem stuck her hands in her pockets inconspicuously and felt around for an object in her right pocket. Her fingers closed around it and she fidgeted with it nervously- it was a infostick, a little plug in she could attach to the console and automatically download all the information stored within. Who knew that getting holographic plans to the entire building would be so easy? She chewed her lip as Asaari put a hand on the scanner. The door slid open.
