"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I asked aloud as my TV and the rest of my electricity went out. Great, just wonderful.

Apparently not paying my rent had taken it's toll. Now I was sitting in the dark on a sofa that could break any moment with no entertainment whatsoever. Running a hand through my brown hair, I stood up from the couch and stumbled my way through the darkness to find my phone.

"Shit." I mumbled after slamming my hip into the kitchen counter. I found my phone and rubbed my hip. I dialed my best friend Aubrey's cell phone. She picked up on the third ring.

"You better have a really good reason to call me at 1 AM." She growled into the phone. "Sorry, do you still have that opening for a roommate?"

Aubrey was pretty rich due to her father working in the oil industry and was able to buy a small house near the university we were about to attend for the second year. She was renting some rooms to other college students to help pay for the house.

"Your interested?" She said sounding skeptic. We've had this conversation before, but I never took the offer because I've always been independent. "This time I truly mean it." I said. "Truly truly??" She demanded. I nodded my head but realized she couldn't see me. "Yes."

I heard screaming and pulled the phone away from my ear. " Oh my gosh this is awesome!" I heard her yell. " Ok calm down." I said giggling to myself. Putting the phone back to my ear, she told me all the information I needed to go find the house, and what day and time to come. We settled on tomorrow at 10:30 am. We talked a bit more before we hung up.

Setting my phone down on the counter I blindly made my way to my bedroom and flopped onto my bed and tried to get some sleep.
