Four moons later...
Storm had never felt so comfortable in her home, the tiny tip of the southwestern peninsula. However, she had not visited her sisters in FOREVER, and life was mundane and lonely.
Suddenly, a torrent of dragons swept down from the skies. They were CloudWings, as she could tell from their pale whitish scales.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?!" she roared up at them.
Several CloudWings looked frightened. "Who...what...are you?" they asked.
"What do you mean? I'm a CloudWing, just like the rest of you!" Then Storm looked down at her own scales. To her shock, they weren't the milky pale white-blue of CloudWing scales. They were much darker, turning purple-black with a sprinkling of silver scales like those NightWings in her visions.
"I-I mean...I'm sort of a NightWing now," she stammered. "But I, erm, used to be a C-cloudWing."
The CloudWings murmured among themselves. Then they asked, "What's a NightWing? What do you mean, you used to be a CloudWing?"
"It's a very long story," Storm sighed. "I'll tell you all later. First, what's this about?"
"Okay. So we're trying to escape from the Cloud Kingdom," one of the dragons told her. Stratus has killed Queen Hurricane with his own talons and is trying to become king of the CloudWings. Princess Mist can't really do anything about it, because he keeps her imprisoned and has threatened to kill her if she so much as sticks a single claw into the whole matter."
Storm gasped. A pang of anger and sadness swept through her. She was torn between running back to her old home to help Mist and staying here, away from the trouble. But Stratus would surely kill her if she, too, attempted to become queen of the Cloud Kingdom. After all, she was older than he, but Stratus definitely had allies with him. Storm didn't. Not really, anyway.
"You are welcome to stay. Here's how it works. My sisters are spread out across the island. You each get to join one of our territories. Your choice. We will be the queens of these new tribes. If you don't like this idea, you can go home and face execution by so-called 'King Stratus'."
Naturally, no one opted to return home. A handful of dragons decided to stay with Storm, while the rest fanned out across the continent to the other kingdoms. Strangely enough, no one asked Storm about how she had predicted their future.
The refugees all spread out and settled in each of the Mud, Sea, Sky, Night, Sand, Rain and Ice Kingdoms. Life became peaceful and relatively stable...for now.
