Pete's POV

Once I had found the girls and we'd fought over chicken, they insisted I finish shopping with them. Well actually Emily asked and well... I can't tell her no. Not yet anyway. So here we are. Stuffed, mildly sleepy, and anxious. "Where to next Ems?" I ask her smiling face." Um... Hot Topic." She replies after checking her list." Good. I need a new hoodie." I tell her bumping her hip with mine. She laughs which makes me laugh, that leads to Lauren looking at us like were crazy. Then she laughs.

We continue walking until we're two steps away. I look at Emily and Lauren. They're faces are confused and shocked. I look up to where they're looking, notice a guy somewhat tall and built, then feel Emily wrap her arm around mine and pull up her scarf. Then we're running into Hot Topic. And I mean running. As soon as we're still inside the store I pull Emily to the side." What just happened Emily?" She shakes her head tears spilling. I pull her into my chest and kiss her hair. "shhhhh, Emily. I'm here." Suddenly the guy walks through the room. Emily breaks away from me and runs into the dressing room with Lauren.

" Hey man. I'm Michael." I shake his hand."I'm Pete." I reply." Hey have you seen a girl about--" He's interrupted by Lauren pulling me out and down the mall." what the hell Lauren?" I ask when she lets me go. Her eyes are full of rage. She doesn't say a word but walks on pulling me along. I follow her until she's stopped in front of Forever 21. I still stay quiet while she pulls me in and pays for something, then were off again. Finally we stop at FYE. She does the same still pulling me along.

I can feel myself wanting the rage with confusion but my mouth can't get the words to the surface. Before I know it were at the parking lot. She stops, opens the back door, motions me in, then starts driving." What the hell?! Where's Emily?!" I ask frantically." She's at the front entrance with my sister Hannah. I'll explain every single word once were home. Deal?" she says sticking her hand out. I shake her hand then her sister walks Emily to the car. She opens the back door. Emily crawls in, not looking at me." Thanks Hannah." says Lauren." no prob sis. who's he?" she says referring to me." his name is Pete." she ahhs then closes the door.

I look at Emily. Her makeup down her cheeks, bloodshot eyes. Like she's battling a war all by herself." Emily?" I choke out. I let out tears I never knew I had.She turns to me, broken and torn before my eyes." please hold me." she whispers ever so softly. She slides over to my side and sits in my lap." Anything for you beautiful." I whisper into her ear. Her tiny arms wrap around neck as she lays her head on my shoulder and in the crook of my neck. Her breath warm against my skin. So beautiful, so perfect. Her thumbs rub away my tears. I kiss her forehead.
