|Jaebum|I feel someone shaking me awake. His voice is high pitched and raspy, and his grip really hurts my shoulders. I open one of my eyes, look over to my side and see my friend, Jackson, smiling at me.
It's Monday morning, and he is as happy as ever.
"Jaebummieee- it's time to wake upppp!!" he whisper-shouts in his cute voice. I glare at him for a few seconds, letting out a yawn as I question how he even got inside my house.
"That's hyung to you. And why are you in my house... how did you even get in?" I say lowly, pulling my blanket closer to my face. I take a second to look at him:
His light brown hair is styled nicely, matching to his warm ivory skin. He wears a plain dress shirt with black slacks, and has a belt in place which holds his pants up and shows his nice waist.
"Uh- because yesterday was the last day of summer! Did you forget?" He eyes me up and down, his light brown eyes gleaming as he smiles. He then walks over to my closet, opens the doors that seemingly stayed closed all summer, and starts going through my clothes. I sit up in my bed and stretch.
I never go to school on the first day, but now it looks like I have no choice.
"You never answered my question, Jackson. How'd you get in my house?" My parents weren't home to let him in, they were almost never here.
Sometimes it feels like this isn't even their house, but really mine.
"So, before summer started, your parents gave you two house keys just in case you lost one.." he stopped talking for a brief moment and brings over my plain white dress shirt and black slacks.
"Yeah and??" I flip my blanket off of me and stand up. I'm only in my briefs, but I don't care what he sees.
He sets the clothes on my bed, stands over them with his hands over his hips and sighs. "On the last day of school, when I drove you home, I stole one of your keys. I knew I would need it in the future, so... here I am now." Jackson smirks as he turns around, taking out my jacket and a pair of black converse. I walk in front of my bed and watch as he drops my shoes on the floor, then hands me my jacket.
"So that's where my other key went, you stole it. That's petty theft, you can get three years probation depending on the charges." I mumble as I start to put my clothes on.
As someone who doesn't feel emotions, the best job I could possibly get would be a lawyer. After my parents found out I was deprived of any feelings, they set me on the path of law and order. I didn't oblige.
He laughs awkwardly and puts one of his hands into his pocket, pulling my house key out. He grabs my hand and pulls it towards him, placing the key in it. "That never happened." He states, before walking out of my room.
I roll my eyes and put on the last of my clothing, I didn't care that he broke into my house, I didn't really care about anything since I've woken up. It may seem like I'm annoyed or pissed off, but I guess that's just my face.
After getting dressed, I walk into my bathroom and brush my teeth. Lazily brushing my fingers through my hair, I fix any misplaced strands. I spray some cologne on and smack my face a little to wake up.
"It's your first day, let's practice your smile." I lift my lips and show my teeth. Of course, this looks and sounds stupid, but I have to pull a believable look.
After a few awkward smiles, I roll my eyes and walk out of my bathroom. I can hear cabinets opening downstairs, he's probably making himself at home.
I put on my socks and shoes, then grab my book bag and phone off my desk. I leave my room and slowly walk downstairs.
Only to walk into the kitchen and find Jackson with a bowl and spoon in his hands, his mouth full of cereal. Typical.
"Help yourself." I mutter, scratching the back of my head with a tired hand.
He gives me a thumbs up, but I ignore him. And even though I'm not hungry, I grab an apple from the fridge and start eating it.
"By the way, I got a new car." He sounds pretty proud for having smashed his old car into another while trying to park.
"Mmm." I hum, giving him a shocked look.
I have a car too but I never take it out of the garage. Jackson drove me to and from school, and summertime wasn't really my kind of time to go out and have fun. So it just sat in the garage all summer.
"I'm also picking up Jinyoung and Mark on the way to school. Jinyoung called shotgun yesterday, so you'll have to sit in the back." He finishes his bowl of cereal and smiles a tight lipped smile as he put the bowl in my sink.
"Alright." I finish my apple and throw the core in the trash, I can already tell that today is going to be a horrible day.
Exiting the house, I turn to lock my door. Not forgetting to put my key in my front pocket, in case Jackson wants to conduct another felony. I sit in the back seat of his car and pull my headphones out of my backpack.
"Hey hyung, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while." I watch as he rubs the back of his neck with his hand, turning around in his seat to face me.
"Yeah?" I plug my headphones into my phone and finally lock eyes with him.
"Are you okay? Like, you didn't talk to anyone this summer, even when you seem completely fine now. I care about you, man." He seems conflicted, confused maybe?
I wouldn't know.
"Yeah, I'm fine. But, Jinyoung won't be if you pick him up late." I smile at him and put the headphone buds in my ears.
He simply nods and turns on the car- pulling the shift stick back into reverse, and pulling out of my driveway.
