    One.

Not even a second passed before he lifted the lighter away from his skin, hands immediately rushing to the burning sensation spreading throughout his leg. He was propped up to where his legs stretched across the balcony and rested on the other empty chair.

   Two.

A wildfire. That's how he would describe it. He had assumed the second time would be easier since his leg already felt the pain, but he should've knew better. Year's had passed since he's done this yet he seemed to have forgot the pain. Perhaps he wanted to feel that again, maybe he wanted to punish himself, or maybe he just didn't want to lose that part of him. Every scar on him told a story, and he was determined to make sure these ones stayed. He knew that every time he would see them or something would press too hard into his thigh, he would feel it and maybe — just maybe it would bring him back down to earth.

   Three.

Reckless or careless. Which one could he classify himself as? To be completely honest, he didn't even know the dictionary definitions, nevertheless the difference between the two.

   Four.

As soon as the lighter hit his skin a knock was heard. An oddly familiar one, yet he couldn't place it. Walking back in from the balcony, he took his walking towards the door. As soon as he got near it, more knocking resumed. He slid back the chain just enough to open the door a few inches but not enough for anyone to be able to get in.

The kid must've been around his age and height. Long, slightly wavy hair fell down to the boys shoulders. He adorned a green knitted hat and a vintage looking jacket. Kai could tell immediately that he wasn't from around here. Probably from some weird state. Ohio? Minnesota?

"Who the fuck are you?"

He blinked once, then twice before gulping visibly. The kid — who he'd now nicknamed Ohio in his head — looked horrified, to say the least. Kai resisted the small smirk that was tugging at his lips.

"Uh, I was sent here." The statement sounded more like a question to Kai. He narrowed his eyes through the narrow slit in the door. "I was sent here by Dres. H-he said that I could pick up his shit since he's out with his girlfriend right now and I-I'm, uh, I kind of owe him a couple favors s-so he's been ordering me around and shit. So yeah, can I uh, have it?"

Silence stretched upon them. It wasn't long until Kai was almost hunching over in a fit of laughter, quick to unlock the chain lock and welcome him in. As Ohio walked in he looked more nervous than before - if that was even possible.
