I walked into school with my head up and tried to force a smile. Marcus Cole won as the Student Body President last year and the school has been hell. I should've won instead of that boy but his fellow baseball friends got his vote.
''They're looking at you more.'' I heard a familiar voice that I haven't heard for a long time. ''No, they're looking at you more.'' I heard Jessica's voice. I turned around and saw Alex Standall, I smiled and walked over to them.
''Alex! Jessica! Hey!'' I greeted as I gave Jessica a hug. ''Which one of us is more tragic? Ryan should do another one of his stupid polls.'' Alex scoffed then gave me a light smile, ''I've missed you Kate.''
Alex and I have been bestfriends since we both got out of our mother's womb. He's been like a savior to me. He helped me with everything I was going through, but I wish I would've done the same to him that night.
''I'll take that.'' Zach said as he ran to us and took Alex's backpack. Alex rolled his eyes and spoke, ''I can carry my own books y'know Zach?'' he scoffed. Zach laughed at Alex's statement, ''Well, clearly, you can't. So let me help, don't be a dick. And welcome back!''
''I agree with Zachy.'' I chuckled. ''By the way, welcome back bestie.'' I added as I gave Alex a hard pat on the back. ''Ow!'' He exclaimed, ''Don't touch me.'' He rolled his eyes as I laughed at his face. ''Sorry Alex.''
Zach has been a friend of mine since Alex and I transferred here in Crestmont. I once had a liking for him but not anymore. ''I meant to ask you guys about my note.'' Alex said, completely ignoring my apology. ''What note?'' Zach and I asked.
''My suicide note.''
''Jesus! Put that away Alexander!'' I exclaimed. Alex looked at us and asked, ''Why? It's not radioactive.'' He said. Before I was about to speak, ''N-no, I know. It's just that we're not allowed to talk about suicide.'' Zach stuttered, ''Or you, or Hannah.''
''Says the school.'' I added. ''They made a rule after the day you- after that day, I mean. And if you talk about it on campus, you get suspended. Yeah, it's so fucked up.'' I said. Zach looked behind me, ''Let's go.'' He said hurriedly.
''Hey! Jess, Alex, welcome back, you guys.'' Bryce greeted as he walked past us with Monty and a new guy..? Alex scoffed, ''Seriously?! Welcome back?!'' He shouted.
''Alex, stop. I'll see you guys after third.'' Jessica smiled lightly as she walked away. Alex sighed, ''Sorry guys.'' He said.
I turned around and looked at Bryce and his friends. ''I told you not to do that man!'' New guy laughed as he pushed Monty. '''Hey, you okay Katie?'' Zach asked as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, ''Anything bothering you?''
I shook my head, ''There isn't Zachy. I'm fine.'' I smiled. Alex groaned, ''Can we go now!?''
