Chapter 1- The great Elders.
Some swore that I was a voodoo doctor. Some said I was just a beautiful disturbed girl, trying to find her way back to a reality that had never been available in the past. Those people were wrong, partially. To some I am considered a voodoo doctor and to a few maybe even disturbed, but I am something else as well. I am magic. I am the person most humans feared. I am Bristol Love Cromwell.
The wind swirled around me as I walked along the darkness filled alley on Clacus Street, the street that witches, vampires and other immortals wandered down and the mysterious street that only drunk humans dared to stumble down.
At the end of Clacus was a portal to our world, the magic world. Only witches and immortals could see the portal, but its shimmering beauty left a lingering presence on Clacus, leaving some unlucky humans dangerously curious.
I wrapped my cover-up tighter around my shivering body, and looked to my designer boots to shield my feet from this chilly fall night.
There was not much reason for Witches to be in the human world, but we just could not keep ourselves from being so curiously entranced by it, for some reason. None of my family lived in their world, except for my father who had left when he discovered we were witches. He had been a very religious man, and we were a disgrace, so one day my mother, brothers, and I came home from our world and found that all of his belongings as well as himself were gone.
My other family, on my mom’s side had died, except for my mom, brothers, and grandmother. They were all brutally murdered during a ritual, which should have never taken place.
As for the small portion of family that was alive… they lived in the immortal world. They rarely came out because they had no reason to, and they were not as curious about the human beings planet as I was.
My mom was a very proper woman who took her magic seriously, my grandmother was just like any other cookie-baking grandmother. She was a sage woman with a lot of history. She had some of the craziest stories and even I at 20 years old still enjoyed listening to them. My brothers [Blake, and Cromos] were just like me. Black haired, blue eyed and fair skinned. They had the same personality as me, and they were just a little bit fascinated by the mortal world.
No immortals or witches were on Clacus tonight, they either had returned home or were hunting by now. I stood beside the portal and made sure that no wandering, curious humans were present so that I could retreat to my world.
There was a specific rule in Ambalay (the place I lived) and that rule was that any humans that entered Ambalay were to be killed immediately with no hesitation. I had never had to kill one because the vampires had always gotten to them first. Of course, there were stories of witches that used the humans as slaves or used them for other horrific jobs, but you could never believe what you did not see with your own eyes here.
I stepped into the portal and I felt it take me away into Ambalay. I was on my feet in point five seconds and looked around. The full moon shone bright overhead and it made me feel a mysterious sort of excitement, I heard vampires hiss at me obviously disappointed I was not a human meal or their tasty dessert for the night. I scowled back and sent magic through my fingers so the vampires would know; I was not to be messed with. I continued walking to my small, cuddly cottage on the edge of the seashore. As I was walking, I heard the werewolves howling in the thick woods and I smiled.
It was time.
I dashed towards the wide clearing in the woods, the main part of Ambalay.
I used the ‘Faspaca’ spell so that I could run exceptionally fast…faster than the vampires, or even the oldest werewolves.
Other witches, some on brooms, joined me. I could smell the strong scent of the vampires and knew they too were running alongside us. As I got closer to the clearing, I could start to hear the werewolf’s fast heartbeats and I could make-out the transparent glimmer of the ghost.
