Chapter 5- The story that could change everything
I had always felt close to my brothers, they were overall my best friends. Through everything, they were there no matter if I was in the wrong, or if I was right. I had a closer bond with them then I had ever had with anybody, even my mother. They held me when I cried; they patched up my scratches and scrapes when I fell. They set my boyfriends straight; they were the exact figure of who big brothers were supposed to be.
That was why I felt like my world was crushing down when I read the note from Cromos, that’s why I was positive I was about to die when I saw Blake walk off in the woods.
I did not know what to do anymore. I did not want to cry, because when I did I felt vulnerable and weak. I did not want to yell, because everyone needed to be well rested when they woke up.
I did not know what to do, I was confused, and I was hurt.
I was half-tempted to run away with Blake, mom, and grandmother but I immediately decided against that. The other half was tempted to run to Lynus and fall into his arms, but I decided against that as well. I thought of him and Jeremiah and how they would do anything to fight for what was good, what was right.
I lay down on the ground, and pulled my cover-up off, placing it under my head. The leaves rustled underneath me making loud noises, the crickets chirped and the birds sang. I breathed in the fresh air and relaxed a little.
I realized how exhausted I was and closed my eyes; after all, I could not go back to my house until I knew Blake was gone. I dozed into a deep sleep and almost immediately everything was better, I was at ease with no stress.
My brothers were wresting and laughing, my grandmother was chatting with my mom on the front porch and they too were laughing. I was enjoying the fresh air, the sounds of nature, and the safe atmosphere. The wind was blowing cooling me off, it was a beautiful spring afternoon, and the sun was shining brightly overhead. I looked at the green grass that I was sitting on and spotted a ladybug struggling to crawl over one of the blades.
I picked it up and it crawled up my arm when I looked back up my brothers were gone, “Blake, Cromos” I said. I turned to ask my mother and grandmother where they were, but they were gone too. I stood up, “Where did you go?” I yelled. I walked around my property looking for my family and I still could not find them. My head began to pound and I found myself taking frequent breaks to stop looking and deep breathe. I stumbled to the clearing clutching my head. The wind speed gradually increased the closer I got to the clearing until it was nearly blowing me off my feet.
My head was throbbing and I could not bare to open my eyes any longer. I fell to the ground in a pitiful heap and my tears sent shivers through my body. I felt an icy finger trace the exposed skin on my back and despite my headache, I had the overwhelming urge to open my eyes, see whom it was and wake from my vivid nightmare. I attempted to sit up right but the person stopped me.
“Ssh, it’s okay Bristol. Don’t worry; I’m not here to hurt you.”
I sat up anyway, Bladeit stared me in the face. “Bristol, I-,”
I crawled away from him as fast as I could but the headache was obstructing my vision. Bladeit stood and followed me finally grabbing me and forcing me to stop moving. He slowly walked circles around me, staring me down as if I was a piece of meat.
“Such potential, you could be everything Bristol,” he hissed.
He placed his icy, translucent finger against my forehead and the pounding in my head subsided. It no longer hurt to open my eyes and stare him in the face with such disgust you would think it was impossible.
