As Percy commando-crawled over the rocky hill, he placed his earmuffs tightly over his ears. He knew from experience how powerful the sirens song could be. Flashes of his journey through the sea of monsters hovered at the edge of his vision - Annabeth jumping over the side of the boat, her Siren induced vision of Luke and her family together again...

No.

This was not the time to be thinking about her.

He edged slowly over the rise and looked down at the rest if the island. It was barren grey rock that overhung the crashing waves below, and there, laying on the large slabs, were three of the most beautiful, yet most hideous creatures Percy had ever seen in his life - just like he remembered them. Their top-halves were that of beautiful women, with long flowing hair of different colours and perfectly defined faces, but from the waist down they were birdlike. Brown and golden feathers protruded from any possible space on their skin, and their feet ended in dark red talons with three sharp silvery claws sticking out of the ends. Soil coloured wings sprouted from the Sirens backs, the tips ending in deep shade of burgundy, making the creatures looked like fallen angels. Their mouths were open, so it seemed they singing their sweet yet deadly song, but thank the Gods that Nyx had given him earmuffs to block it out. A silver key swung around the neck of the further - most Siren.

Raidne.

Percy inhaled deeply and checked that his earmuffs were on tight, before climbing over the rocky hill and onto the barren slope. He produced Riptide from his pocket, and slowly advanced towards the three Sirens before darting behind the only large rock on the whole plain. He crouched down and went through his plan once more. Judging from last time, all he had to do was touch the key to be transported to wherever Nyx wanted him next, so he planned on sneaking up on Raidne and simply ripping the key off her neck. He jumped out from behind the rock and slowly crept toward the two oblivious Sirens who had their backs turned and were watching the sunset spread purple and orange rays across the blue oceans horizon. He was merely ten meters away when he realised there were only two Sirens present. He scanned the rest of the rock plain for any sign of the third, finding no trace of her anywhere.

Just as the thought crossed his mind, something heavy landed on his back, causing him to go sprawling across the rocks. He looked up to discover a red haired Siren perched only a meter away, waddling towards him slowly, her deadly talons clicking across the stones and her full lips contorted into an angry snarl. Percy leaped up quickly and lunged toward her, springing Riptide into its sword form in the process. He swung the sword at her side, but she dodged out of the way, surprisingly fast for a half bird lady, and crashed her wing down on him, sweeping him off his feet. He crashed to the ground, and his earmuffs went sliding toward the feet of the Siren. Uh oh.

All three Sirens were standing in a circle around him. They opened their mouths, and a song so sweet and divine echoed around the island. To Percy, it was like a warm blanket was being wrapped around his mind, filling it with feelings of content and happiness. He could see his family surrounding him - his Mother and Paul stood beside each other, a small girl with blue eyes and black hair clutched their hands tightly. Poseidon was standing, holding out his arms as if to embrace Percy. Annabeth was there too, smiling at him and holding out her hand, the wedding band Percy had given her resting comfortably on her ring finger.
Then he had this niggling feeling in the back if his mind that all was not ok. He pushed it back and looked a little further, seeing all his friends there too. Chiron and the rest of the seven were grinning at Percy - Piper and Jason holding hands and laughing, Hazel and Frank were sitting and waving to him, whilst Leo and Nico kept calling him seaweed brain over and over again. Zoë, Bianca, Beckendorf and Silena were beaming at him with the rest. The niggling voice returned, stronger this time.

'This isn't right.'

'They're dead'.

Suddenly, something snapped inside Percy, and the warm clouds blew away to reveal the sight before him - three sets of razor - sharp claws speeding toward his face. He brought Riptide up just as a talon pierced his face, and shoved the shocked Sirens away. The three sisters gaped at Percy, shocked that he could break their spell. Using their shock as an advantage, Percy lunged and ripped the key off the chain around Raidnes throat. The black vortex appeared and a numbed Percy jumped into it, just before the Sirens opened their mouths and let loose blood - curdling screams.
