Edward's POV

I stared at you, reading your face. I didn't dare step into your mind, you were flustered up enough. Besides, if Bella saw what I was doing...
I chuckled at your reaction. "Don't tell anyone... what?" you said, wide eyed. "Well, if I were to tell you... you would have to come to my house." I said, staring at your face, waiting for a reaction. You stared back. 'We just met!' I heard your annoyed thoughts say. You closed the book you were reading and stood up. "It must be good if I'm going there," you said. Suddenly, I saw you stiffen. You were staring past me, at something... Terrifying.
I looked over my shoulder and scoffed. It was Bella, mad as can be. Even though I kept my voice low, she must have heard me mention my place. Her face was flushed red. She really was ticked. "Edward, what the-," she began, catching sight of my new human friend. You stared at her, your eyebrows furrowed in aggravation. 'Back off.' you thought. I covered my mouth to hold in laughter. Bella gave you the worst glare, almost a challenge. I'd better introduce her properly to you if you were coming over. I stood up, clearing my throat. "(Y/N), this is Bella, as you know," I said. "She is my... to-be fiancé." I smiled at Bella, mischief in my eyes. She rolled her eyes and continued to glare at you. I looked at her, my glance giving her the signal to stop. You were utterly surprised. "Fiancé?" you echoed. "How old are you?" you asked, your gaze shifting from me to Bella, and me again. "I'm seventeen, she's eighteen." I said. Your eyes were bigger than moons. No, they were the moons. I wanted to reach out and stroke your cheek, but it took all of my self-control to stop me. I kept my voice low as I spoke to Bella. "I'm just having a friendly conversation with the new student; she has a lot to learn." My voice was apparently believable, for she nodded and went to sit with Alice and Jasper. Alice, though, stared at me with disbelief in her eyes. 'No!' she mouthed, shaking her head. I rolled my eyes at her, ignoring her warning. I sat back down, but you were inching your way out of the cafeteria. "(Y/N), wait, I wanted-" you were already gone. I groaned in defeat. I'll let you get away this time, but I'm determined to have you.
