Edward had waited for me at my locker. I asked him how long he had been there, but he didn't say. Of course, I was flattered. I wondered why I didn't see Zoe or Jacob that morning. In biology, though, I saw Zoe on the very side of the room, sitting next to a kid I really hadn't paid any attention to. Bella was sitting next to Edward, like usual. Zoe saw me from across the room and gave a gentle, yet awkward, wave. I waved back, embarrassed that she caught me staring. We both avoided each other's eyes the rest of the class, mainly because I was too busy trying to stay awake. Whenever I turned to look at Edward, I could swear I always saw him look away. I caught his eyes only once, making him chuckle. I smiled widely and continued on with my work.
The bell rang, signalling that the class was over. I got up quickly and grabbed my stuff to leave. Zoe came up to me, a worried look on her face. "You're not with Edward, are you?" she asked. I looked at Edward, who was walking up to the both of us. I took in a sharp breath. "No... I'm not." I replied. Edward glared at Zoe, causing her to shy away. "Well, (Y/N), I'll see you later." she said. Edward put his hand on my shoulder and said, "I'd rather you didn't talk to her or Jacob." he said, his voice low. I looked at him, but he started to walk away before I could ask why. Zoe was a great person, but I must admit, she was a little weird. She only hung out with Jacob, and he doesn't even go to this school. Every now and then I'll see her in the beginning of lunch, but she's always gone before I can talk to her. Bella was staring towards Edward, a look of defeat on her face. I looked away and jogged towards Edward, who was already down the hall. He caught me by the hand and raced towards the exit. He was so fast, I doubt any of the teachers saw him. I didn't have any time to speak or protest before he put me down.
