The air was crisp, the breeze was subtle. It was chilly outside, even in spring. Instead of spending the beautiful day outdoors, enjoying the green grass and cherry blossom trees, a girl was inside a coffee shop, serving coffee and tea. She had long golden-pale hair that traveled midway down her back. Her eyes looked like brown orbs. The curves she possessed were beautiful, almost unreal. Her name was Lucy Heartfilia.
Lucy may have been an alluring girl, but her past was nothing but beautiful. She was raised by the two richest people in the country, Jude and Layla Heartfilia. Her mother was her best friend before she died when Lucy was young. Jude always blamed Lucy for her death. He was abusive towards her, it was like he wanted her dead.
Along with her father, her ex-boyfriend, Loke, was nothing but a nightmare toward her. She did not know at the time, but Loke and Jude were good friends. They had been planning to make an arranged marriage between the two teenagers. Loke abused and tormented her until the brink of ending it all.
After years of torture and abuse, she knew that she could not handle it anymore, so she ran and did not look back, not once. Lucy finally reached Magnolia. She thought that it was a beautiful town, so she decided to buy an apartment there. When she ran, she was eighteen years old, fresh out of high school. She lived in Magnolia for two more years, now she was twenty years old in her second year of college.
The Heartfilia Family was extremely rich, so Lucy managed to buy a decent apartment and still have a little money left over. She worked as a barista in a local coffee shop called Strauss Coffee. Lucy enjoyed her job because the coffee shop was so peaceful and calm. Plus, free-wifi since she was a college student.
Lucy put some dishes in the sink and scrubbed. The job paid well, so she never complained. "Your shift is over," her boss, Mirajane Strauss, said. Mirajane was one of the nicest people Lucy ever met. She had long flowing white hair and a kind smile. She regularly wore pink and white.
"My shift is supposed to end in an hour," Lucy said, still scrubbing the dishes. She finished washing them and set them on a cloth next to the sink.
"Please, I insist." Mirajane said, brewing up a tea. "You work so hard here, you deserve a little break." Lucy smiled at Mirajane and accepted the hour off. She made herself a chai tea and sat by a window booth.
Lucy pulled out her laptop and typed her English assignment. She was an exceptional student, probably the best in all of Magnolia University. Chai tea was her favorite beverage. She thought that it was calming and delicious at the same time. Going to the coffee shop and sitting by the window always calmed her down.
As she typed her English assignment, she accidentally pushed her notebook off the table with her elbow. When she went to pick it up, she realized that someone else was also reaching for it. She backed up and let the person place it on the table. He had salmon-colored hair. He looked tall, but Lucy could not tell since she was sitting down. He wore a strange looking scarf that looked like scales, but Lucy did not like to judge. His black eyes glared into her brown ones.
The boy looked familiar to Lucy, but she could not remember. Maybe she saw him in one of the classes she was in, she really didn't know. She knew many of her classmates, but not their names. She could decipher their faces and tell which class she shared with them.
"Thank you," Lucy mumbled out as she pushed the notebook away from the edge. The boy couldn't keep his eyes off her. He thought that she was breathtakingly beautiful, like no girl he had ever seen before. He flashed her a very heartwarming smile.
"No problem," he said as he walked up to Mirajane and ordered a coffee. Lucy continued working on her English assignment, pretending like that encounter never happened.
