Past Sins

Part 3

The days quickly flew by with no mishaps or problems. Kyle and I were going through the final details and settings for the birthday party tomorrow night. Double checking everything and making the necessary calls was the order of the day. At noon on that Thursday, the day before the party, we went over Mrs Amelia's place to see to the organizing and setting up of the place and everything looked perfect so far.

Just when we were about to leave Mrs Amelia called us over to her living room to personally invite us to the party. I had no intention of being there that night, I had plans of a movie marathon and eating a tub of ice cream in my bed. But I knew I couldn't refuse her, so I agreed to come just for a little while.

As I got home that evening I couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. Had this unshakable feeling that something bad was going to happen.
I asked Nana if she would go with me and from the smile on her face I knew she was more than happy to comply.
After dinner I kissed her goodnight and headed to my room to sleep.

The next day, I slept in till 12 noon since I was taking the day off for the party. I dragged myself to the bathroom to take a shower and brush my teeth, after which I put on some casual clothes. Just as I was about to step out of my room I got a text from Kyle saying Mrs Amelia was waiting for us for a final look over things and asked for us to bring along our change of clothes for the event. I shot him a quick reply and went back to my room to choose a dress and prepare myself.
I rush downstairs to tell Nana to get ready because we were going over to Mrs Amelia's place. She served me both breakfast and lunch since it wasn't me alone I was eating for and hurried herself up to her room to pick a dress and some stuff. Forty five minutes later we were out of the house and on our way.

Over at Mrs Amelia's place, I went about my business of making sure everything was in place and nothing was out of order. I later introduced my Nana to Mrs Amelia and these two hit it off completely, they soon disappeared to God knows where. But I was glad my Nana was hitting it off with someone like Mrs Amelia.

Soon enough, it was 7:00 and prominent guests were already coming in and were being directed to the area of the property where the event was to take place. As I was glancing around I saw Mrs Amelia walk towards me and she looked amazing in her royal blue dress with intricate lace details.

"Mrs Amelia you look stunning" I complimented her sincerely.

"Thanks dear, wait till you see your Nana, she looks gorgeous. I now see where all this beauty and niceness comes from." She said.

"Thanks Mrs Amelia, I don't mean to be rude but doesn't a person need to be present for his own birthday party?" I muttered shyly.

"You mean my son? He just returned back from a five month business trip this afternoon. He wanted to take a little rest before all of this. Alex will be down shortly" She answered whiles waving at some guest.

"Now dear, you should go get dressed for the night, just ask one of the maids and they will show you to a guest room to change"

"Thank you Mrs Amelia" I said as she went on to interact with the other guests.

Twenty minutes later, I was back at the party in my black dress with lace details and a little bit of makeup applied to my face. I spotted my Nana and Kyle, I walked over to them to join their conversation and true to Mrs Amelia's words my Nana did look gorgeous and so did Kyle. We all were having a good time until we heard Mrs Amelia on the small platform set up

"Ladies and Gentleman may I please have your attention. Thank you all for coming tonight. I know you all have been wondering where the birthday boy is" she said as the guest erupted with laughter

"Sorry, I keep forgetting he's no longer a boy but a man. Alex can you please come join me here" she said into the crowd and soon a well dressed man in a black suite that fitted his form perfectly made his way towards Mrs Amelia.
