4th period finally rolled around and I headed to lunch, after buyingmy food I find Layla sitting at a table completely focused in on her laptop. "Hey Layla."
"Hey Rach."
"What are you looking at?" I lean over her shoulder trying to peak at her laptop.
"Just the school paper for this week and in all honesty it sucks! If this whole Ace and Jared thing fails then we are screwed." She runs her hands through her hair in frustration.
"Calm down Layla everything is going to be fine I can handle this."
"I sure hope you can because my whole carrer is riding on this so if this fails you know why I will be living in your basement." She stuffs a spoon full of pudding into her mouth.
"Hey okay lets not talk about the newspaper for awhile yea?"
"Like?"
"The fall dance we still have that to plan."
"Great something else to stress me out about."
"Oh come on even if we don't get a DJ it would still be better than last years."
"That's true I guess that kinda helps but how are we going to get people to buy tickets when all they really look forward to is Prom."
"Well we can put it in the newspaper easy we just have to get a selling point like your cousins are Teo and Ayo."
"Yea 2nd but they don't even know I exsit."
"Well let them know you exist."
"They will be disappointed that I'm their cousin trust me most of my family is."
"Layla you are such a downer just try."
"Yea whatever I'll just talk to my mom about it and see what she can do."
"See great Idea and I can find an amazing DJ and party decorations! See everything is falling into place."
"Yea it would be better if you talked to your loaded mom for once maybe she would give us some money for it."
"Yea Layla not happening so you can get over it."
"Seriously Rach how long can you stay mad at the woman who gave birth to you?"
"For as long as I live." I pick up my tray and walk away the last thing I want to talk about is my good for nothing mom. I throw away my food and head out side and sit on the sidewalk.
"Rach." I hear Layla's voice behind me sounding hurt.
"I don't want to talk Layla."
"I know I jst wanted to say sorry I shouldn't've said that it was wrong of me and I was out of place."
"Yea no kidding." She sits down besides me and leans her head on my shoulder.
"I love you Rach."
"Yea okay."
"Rach I'm sorry please give me more than two words at a time."
"Okay Layla happy?" ai gave her a sarcastic smile before turningmy back to her. She knew my mom was a touchy subject and she pressed my buttons anyway.
"Rach I'm sorry please forgive me I'm just super stressed and I let my emotions get the best of me. I'm really sorry Racheal forgive me?"
I turn my head so that I'm now facing her. "Promise you won't ever talk about it again you know how much that subject upsets me."
"I know and I'm sorry it will never happen again." Layla looks at me with pleading eyes.
"Fine I forgive you." Just as I finish my sentence the bell rings. "Well I have to get to class." I pick up my bag of the side of the sidewalk, when I get up I spot Jared sitting in his car staring off into space but he looks pissed. Boy am I going to have fun talking to him after school, my stomach twists into a knot.
