Hanna sat on the couch in Central Perk all alone and with tear tracks staining her face. She hadnt meant to blow up on Ross like that, but she was hurt. After her abusive dad put her mom into the hospital, the couple went through a dramatic split and Hanna ended up living with her cousins for three years. The Gellers treated Hanna as if she were their own. Ross hated this. He believed she didn't belong there, and was starting to take his place. He spoke few words to her over the many years. Ross really wasn't anyone to Hanna. He never helped her, never even made the effort, and all of a sudden he thinks that he owns her? And the fact that he really didn't care, he just couldn't stand the fact that his past might reflect his present fathering abilities?
Flashback
"Ross, Monica, we need to talk to you guys." Mr Geller called up the stairs. Both of them came rushing down.
"We have some news for you two. Sit down." Mrs Geller gestured to the couch. Monica plopped down and Ross sat down gracefully.
"So, as you two know, your cousin, Hanna's parents have split up." Mr Geller sighed.
"Well...Hanna's mother wants her to be in a safe environment for a while." Mrs Geller paused, taking in a breath while lookin over at her husband.
"And...well, we offered for her to"- he paused. "To stay with us for as long as she needs."
"Oh my gosh, really?" Monica exclaimed while her eyes grew wide. "It'll be like we always wanted!" She squealed.
"Yes. We promised her mom that we would make her feel as welcome as possible. That means you two are due to treat her like a real sister." Mrs Geller stated sternly.
"This is stupid." Ross spat. "She's not my sister, so why would I need to treat her like one."
"Ross, her parents are splitting up. They're going through tough things right now. She needs someone to treat her like family." Mr Geller
"But she's not in our family! Our family is the four of us, and that's it."
"Ross is only upset because she'll get all the attention and he won't anymore." Monica spat crossing her arms over her chest.
"That is not true!" He fought. The siblings broke out into a frenzy of yelling and insults.
"Hey, hey, hey! Now you two need to stop that. Hanna is moving in next week and you will treat her as family whether you like it or not. No questions asked." Mr Geller shouted as he rose from his seat and stormed out of the room. After a few moments of awkward filled silence, Ross went to his room followed by Monica.
"Hanna?" Joeys soft voice rang in her ears. She looked up from her hands.
"Oh my god, Hanna...are you alright?" Joey stood there limply as if he wasn't sure what to do with the crying woman.
"Um...yeah I'm alright, Joey." She flashed her smile.
"What happened back there?"
"I was just...a little hurt." She nervously laughed looking up at him. "Um...Ross hasn't been particularly nice to me in the past, as I've mentioned." She said looking down again.
"Well what happened? You and Ross are family...w-why would he not be nice to you?"
"When I had to move in with them...he didn't want me there. He thought that I wasn't a part of his family, so I didn't belong there. He never spoke to me. I could tell, when he brought me home from the hospital, even though I was all drugged up and exhausted, I could tell that he was doing it for some reason, and I knew it wasn't because he really cared. And then you mentioned the Susan thing, and it all makes sense now." Hanna spoke lowly. Joey could tell Hanna held no judgement towards Ross for his past actions, it was just hurt.
