Hanna knocked gently on Monica's apartment door. The door opened within seconds.
"Oh, Hanna...Hello." Rachel appeared.
"Hi!" She greeted gleefully. "I got some wine on my way over." She stepped inside and set the two bottles of wine on the table that she had stopped to get on her way. Hanna sensed someone standing behind her and watching her as she unwrapped the wine bottles. She paused and smiled to herself, whipping around to meet his gaze.
"Hi, Joey." Hanna whispered gingerly. She looked at him and her mind flashed back to the events of the night before. His warmth on her skin, the fuzzy feeling she got in her stomach, the safety she felt in his bed and within his arms.
Joey paused. "Hey Hanna." Joey getting a sudden urge to pull her into a hug. She was so small and so delicate. She was beautiful.
Joeys trance was broken by Phoebe walking in and blurting, "Wow the sexual tension in here is very strong!" Hanna turned around awkwardly and let out a small laugh. A rose colored blush rose to her cheeks.
"Hi Phoebe!" She exclaimed gleefully.
"Hey Hanna, hows it going?" Phoebe smiled wildly.
"I thought I'd come by for a few drinks tonight."
"So, you have your apartment all set up right?" Joey asked as Hanna returned her attention to him.
"Um yeah...I do. It looks better than I thought it would, actually. You guys should stop by sometime." She smiled. Hanna was proud of her place.
There was an awkward pause that spread throughout the room."Well...I don't know about you guys but I want some wine." Rachel said breaking the silence and getting the wine glasses out of the cupboards. Everyone grunted in agreement.
Hanna was quite drunk by the time the night was winding down. Hanna wasn't the stupid drunk, or the angry drunk, she was a baby type of drunk. She was bubbly and wanted to make everyone happy, but she couldn't do anything on her own.
"Alright guys...I'm going to go across the hall. Could I be any more stupid? I have work at 7 tomorrow." Chandler groaned. Everyone said their goodbyes and then it seemed everyone was getting ready to leave.
"We can't let Hanna walk home on her own, guys." Monica said glancing over at Hanna who was curled in a ball on the couch.
"Well we live in the same building, I could"- Ross started but then Joey elbowed him sharply in the ribs. Ross winced.
"I'll walk her home." Joey stated. The group shared sly glances.
"Go get her, tiger." Rachel said nudging Joey.
Joey walked over to Hanna and tapped her lightly.
"Hanna? Hey, we need to get you back to your apartment, okay?" He cooed."Mhm" She mumbled. Joey helped her get up.
"Cmon." He urged. Together they walked down the steps and out of the apartment building. Neither of them said a word to eachother the whole walk, bRight now he said on the cardboard boxut it wasn't the awkward silence. It was the comfortable silence, almost like it was just good to have each other's company, to have that presence nearby. They both enjoyed it. Joey had a hand around her waist supporting her and Hanna did the same. At one point in the walk, Hanna let her head rest on Joey's shoulder.
As they neared her apartment door, Joey grew weary. He did not want to leave her. He wasn't sure why, but he almost ached at the thought of having to leave her in just a few seconds.
