"please."
"please."
"please."
they kept whispering. kept whispering.
continuously whispering.
haeju attempts to scream at the voices to stop, but she remains rooted to the ground, her throat feeling like it had been filled with concrete.
"help."
"please."
"please."
the smooth, deep voice that sung was nowhere to be heard.
"daydreams."
"daydreams."
"daydreams."
daydreams. what daydreams? why?
her surroundings flash, as if lighting had struck her eyes, she finds herself closer to the building, in front of a sign.
'busan's daydreams orphanage' she manages to read it out loud.
as she reads, every other sound vanishes, silence pushing away the sorrowful whispers.
"busan. busan, daydreams.. orphanage?" she says, mind blank.
she needs to go. she needs to go.
now.
"daydreams!" haeju screams, running to turn on the light of her room, eyes glancing around in a hurry.
"i need to go there, now.. now, now, now..." she whispers, running across her room to retrieve her phone, running her hand through her hair to ease the tangles.
with nothing but her wallet, car keys and phone, she runs outside, taking note of the setting sun.
car or train, car or train? she questions mentally, cursing herself for wasting time, for all she knew she could forget everything any time now.
she runs to her car that she barely uses, almost breaking the car door when she hastily slams it open and seats herself, revving the engine up, she drives her way to busan, knowing it was going to be a long ride.
after around five hours of driving, she regrets it.
she should've taken the train, she would've reached around two hours earlier.
but none the matter, she clears her thoughts as she stands on the pavement.
and on the other side of the road.
"busan's daydreams orphanage."
seeing the place she had been dreaming for years makes her overly nervous.
she's here, she's about to end her chain of unexplainable dreams once and for all.
it's dark, not as dark as her dreams, but still dark. the sun had long set and her only source of light was the moon.
she crosses the street, pushing open the black rusty gates, they emit a very loud creak.
the overgrown weeds crunch beneath her converse as she walks to the doorway, the cold wind nips at her exposed neck and skin.
once inside, she examines her surroundings. she was apparently in the main room, the grayed wallpapers were barely hanging on to the wall and dusty and moldy toys were scattered around.
one toy in particular catches her attention, and she scurries towards it, hesitantly reaching towards the what is supposed to be a pink bunny plush.
once her hand comes in contact with the plush, her surroundings flash white and she scrunches her eyes shut, before slowly opening them to the sound of childish giggles.
her eyes widen as she sees two small almost transparent figures in front of her.
"tokki and you look almost the exact same!" the figure on the right exclaims, it was a girl. no older than 8 years old, in her grasp was the same plush that haeju had been drawn to, except it looked new and cute.
"does it?" the black-haired boy who stood in front of the girl inquires, a cute smile on his lips as he twiddled his fingers.
"mhm!" the small girl hums in confirmation.
haeju gulps, and reached her hand towards both the children, only for her hand to go through. only then had she realized it was a memory.
memory of what, is what she wants to know. memory of who, she needs to know.
