haeju aimlessly walks around the hallways, at this point, shes just awaiting the room to shift and a memory that she wouldn't understand to play out in front of her. why her?

she never found out what's her relation to the orphanage, or why she had been begged to come and 'help', she still doesn't know why she can't leave, or why she keeps seeing the damned memories of kids she never knew existed. why her?

she curses the god forsaken orphanage, let me leave, she thinks, she wishes she never listened to the whispers in her dreams. why her?

she ignores all the newspaper articles stuck to the walls or on the hallway tables, all of them had similar headlines that she had read way too many times.

'sexual abuse'

'physical abuse'

'kids gone missing'

only an idiot couldn't tell that there was something way too deep, way too dangerous going on with the orphanage, but she could also tell that the people outside the orphanage were turning a blind eye to it.

the only thing that stops her from continuously wandering around was the smell of burning paper, and like a daydreaming lunatic, she follows the smell, somehow knowing it would trigger another memory.

she winds up in the kitchen, the smell of burning paper coming from the man who stood beside the stove, lighter in hand as he burns newspaper articles, the dark ashes falling to the floor.

another bulkier man stood by the refrigerator, playing around with a sharp looking pocket knife.

haeju knows they won't sense her or see her, so she boldly walks across the room, sitting on the wooden stool, what messed up shit was she about to watch again? she wonders somberly.

"y'know hyunsoo, jimin has been disobeying us way too much lately," the man who was burning the newspaper articles says, eyes not leaving the flames that licked at the paper.

"don't all the pathetic kids do? what did he done this time, he kicked you when ya tried to rip his pants off again?" the bulkier man says, voice laced with humor and haeju resists the urge to vomit her insides out, because how can someone joke about something so dreadful?

"nah, i had my way with him last night, but i caught him dancing multiple times with the other little shit, hoseok?" the man called 'hyunsoo' throws the remaining newspaper articles in the trash bin and leans against the stove.

haeju had never heard the name 'jimin' or 'hoseok' before, but from the way both men were talking about them, she assumes they could be some of the kids.

"how about i take care of chimchim and you go for hoseokie? let's show them tonight before their dance 'appointment' that when we tell them to stop dancing, we mean it." the bulkier man says, a sinister grin appearing on his lips as he tucks his pocket knife into his boot, hyunsoo's eyes gleam with excitement and ill-intentions as he hums happily at the thought of both boys suffering.

"you sick, sick men..." haeju hugs herself tightly as if to keep whatever was left of her sanity intact, getting up to run out of the room, until a loud noise interrupts both her and the men.

before both men could discuss their plans, they hear a flower pot shatter to the ground near the kitchen doorway, and haeju could almost feel her heart drop to her feet when the boy from one of the memories, the one who had covered the little girl's eyes attempts to hide himself by pushing himself against the wall. 'joonie' was he called?

the bulkier man, who was closest to the door stomps his way to 'joonie' and grabs him by his collar, ignoring his protests and whimpers and proceeds to throw him onto the kitchen floor.

'joonie' looks up with fear in his eyes as he sits up, ignoring the bleeding cuts that appeared on his knees from sliding across the floor.

"oh, oh. look what we have here, a little namjoon spying on the adults conversation," hyunsoo comes closer and crouches down, grabbing the boy called 'namjoon''s jaw and pulling him closer, wanting to see the boy's facial reactions more clearly.

"and i guess you overheard our plans, and we can't have you going around telling everyone can we? so since we're feeling merciful today, we'll let you go and you'll forget about this, alright?" hyunsoo states more than questions, gripping namjoon's jaw tighter.

namjoon's eyes flicker, and a frown forms on his face as he says "i won't let you hurt jiminie or seokie, let them do what they love, haven't you all done more than enough already?!" namjoon screams when he's kicked in the stomach by the bulkier man and hyunsoo scoffs.

"yah, jay bring me a spoon, there's only one way to silence someone in this place," hyunsoo says, and the bulkier man—jay, hands him a spoon from one of the drawers.

hyunsoo lights the lighter beneath the spoon, watching as the metal heats up and turn a bright reddish color, he grips namjoon's jaw tightly, way tighter than before, and namjoon is full on kicking and screaming at this point as the pain from his jaw forces him to open his mouth wide.

haeju feels whatever in her stomach come out from her mouth as she hurls onto the floor, feeling lightheaded as hyunsoo presses the burning hot spoon onto namjoon's tongue.

his screams, namjoon's screams are way too much.

how much more does haeju have to hear, how many more times does she have to hear the painful and sorrowful screams of children as she watches not being able to do anything?

she falls onto the ground, and darkness engulfs her as she descends into unconsciousness.
