"Ken, I'm fine; I can't stay in bed for the whole day. I got a company to run." I said to Kendall over the phone, walking into WEM.
Initially, Lyla and I thought we could work without any staff but as time goes, accounts piling up and our workload got heavier, we had to start hiring. We started with internship first then eventually got some contract staff.
Lyla's head jerked up at my voice and narrowed her eyes at me, mouthing at me 'Why the hell are you back at work?' I waved hello to her and Kendall is still asking me to turn back home to get more rest.
"I'm fine, Kendall," I sighed and giving Lyla a look to show her that I'm talking to her too, "I can take care of myself,"
"I'm not sure about this, Abel. You had an accident yesterday and a mild concussion!" Kendall exclaimed. Lyla is chiming in now, "I'm with you on this, Ken!"
"Okay, I'm seriously fine, you two. If I'm not well or something, I will let Lyla know okay?" I said.
Kendall groaned and I heard Cain chuckling beside Kendall, "You can't cage a wild heart,"
Kendall sighed and said, "Get Lyla on the phone." I rolled my eyes and put it on speaker, "You're on,"
"Hey Ly," Kendall greeted and Lyla smiled, "Hey Ken, don't worry I will keep my eyes on her,"
"Great, please just stick to her and make sure she remember to eat and take her meds!"
"Aye, aye captain!" Lyla replied and Kendall finally said, "Alright I'm sending Nick to school now. You are coming over later right? Do you need a ride?"
I turned off the speaker, slapped Lyla's bum and headed to my office, "Nah, It's totally out of your way. I'm getting a cab there."
"Okay, see you later."
.....
I am doing a draft on Kendall's wedding account when my receptionist's voice came through the intercom, "Abel, Mr. Miguire is here for you,"
My eyes widened and my heart skipped a beat when I heard his name. I dropped my pen and pressed down the button, "Let him in please, Mel,"
What is he doing in my office?!
I watched Daxton wearing a black button down shirt and jeans, his blue eyes looking around at my office, smiling and nodding at my employees who are looking at Daxton with their mouth agape.
Daxton is someone who doesn't like suit and tie. He opted for shirt and jeans. Even in such casual outfit, he still manage to catch people's eyes with his confident strides and smile.
Lyla is on the phone when Daxton walked in, her jaws dropped and I could almost see her drooling. The first thing Daxton said was, "What are you doing in the office?"
I raised my eyebrow at him, "The last time I checked, I'm the boss and this is my office?"
Daxton sighed, annoyance in his tone. "I went to your house to see if you're feeling better but nobody was home. So I came here. You should have gotten more rest,"
"You are not the first person to say that to me. The more I stay at home, the sicker I get. How is your hand doing?"
He lifted up his bandaged hand, "It's nothing,"
"So, you came all the way to my office just to tell me I should rest?" I folded my arms and suddenly remembered my manners, "Do you want something to drink?"
Daxton chuckled, "No, thank you. Actually, I wanted to let you know our insurance are settled. Our cars are definitely going to the scape yard. If you want to check it yourself," He took his wallet out and passed me a card, "That's my insurance and the one in-charge of your account,"
