Waving through the sky,
my oh my.
What a beautiful sight:
Flying in the sky like a kite.
Our nation fought for this
TO hang there with independence.
Long, hard battles fought.
But that's how our indepence was bought.
This nation now free,
But laws aren't making us equal, you must see.
Segregation laws tore us apart,
So did slavery, back in the day.
Women also didn't have a say,
In elections.
Racism,
or terrorism,
Our nation lives in fear of actions and words.
Most of it is absurd.
We must honor the dead,
And respect the fighting.
So we can keep that flag together,
And flying high in the sky.
