"Savior or Destroyer?"
He is the mighty
That rescues the hostages from war
He is the strong
That thrives in the corps
He is the wind
That tosses trees and homes
He is the storm
That chills you to the boneAnd he is sweet
Like the lover who brings flowers
He is soft
Like the father who sings a lullaby at every hour
He is kind
As he donates to those in need
He is dependable
As he never acts in greedHe is both
The hurricane
And the breezeHe is hard and soft
Good and bad
Seemingly in betweenHe stitches up my open wounds
Carefully and gently
He holds me together
In a way that causes most to swoonHe picks me up like a flower
As though I'm delicate and beautiful
And does everything in his power
To stay dutiful to allBut as he rises
He also fallsHe shatters the memory
Of a now sunken city
One that once
Could have been called prettyHe parades with destruction
As he teaches machines
To stop their functions
As they become broken
Whenever he is on the sceneThe scene of a crime that he committed
With walls he cracked
And people he smacked with lies
And against his virtue, his sins are pittedHe saves and yet
He destroys
Playing with life
As though it were his toyWith his building of hope
He destroys reality
And leaves us unable to cope
With our loss in normalityHe forms the fictitious belief
Of sanctuary and serenity
And takes with him reliefBut we are left to grieve
Our casualties
Our damaged city
And how he walks away
So flippantlyIgnoring the demolition
And the partition of our home
Disregarding the sobbing citizens
He keeps flying
And remains smiling
As if he had won somethingHe saves the wounded from hell
And then brings them
Using a well of false promises and pretences
To abandon them in a city
Nearly as broken as they are
