The Screen

---

I once knew someone whose knees
defied the call of gravity.
People shook his feet that stood proud,
and soon it kissed the barren ground.

He's now sleeping six feet below;
long-forgotten award was bestowed.
Another one lived as he ceased to exist.
Not even a history, never in stories.

In the midst of the forest, whilst snow was falling freely from the sky, Cresna arrived. She came from the future and went back through time for her only mission: to stop the evilness of Nana.

But she never expected to encounter bandits where the time machine that took her back to past was located. They were planning to kill her, maybe because of the way she was dressed, or perhaps, she looked helpless due to the effect of the weather and environment. However, a lady suddenly appeared out of nowhere, looking like she was willing to help Cresna over the fight.

The device XM8 that she was wearing abruptly lit up, and a woman appeared on the hologram. It was Sora.

"Yugi, the weakest warrior of this period. She is a useless one whose not known by many because of not having enough knowledge in regards of fighting. She is the lowest rank her tribe. Never trust Yugi."

"You don't have to worry anymore, I came here to help you."

They immediately prepare themselves as they attacked the bandits. Their hearts scream braveness, they cooperatively knocked them out using their own swords, while avoiding the raining arrows to their position. Nonchalantly, they thrust their swords to the five bandits and instantly left the place.

"You alright?" asked by the lady who helped her escape the people who she fought with.

"I'm fine. Thanks for the help," she said, still in shock and awe. It was the time that she felt the burning passion of a warrior, so as she glanced on The Screen, confusion came across her face.

Why did it say that Yugi was weak? Looks like it was the opposite from what I've witnessed.

"What are you even doing in the midst of a forest in this kind of weather?" They were currently walking their way in search for a cave to stay in.

"Don't you have any idea that in this time, it's dangerous in these woods? There are bandits everywhere, hunting."

Hesitating, Cresna thought that Yugi's the only one she could trust as of now to ask queries and information that she needed for the mission. "I was actually looking for the town, Siyete-Putol. And for some unfortunate reason, I lost my tracks and was led here."

"Siyete-Putol? It's already not that far from here. But due to the pressure of the air, it's only better if we first find some shelter before I can take you there."

The freezing air was filling up her whole body. Unlike Yugi who was wearing thick clothes, large parts of her skin was clearly naked because of her dress.

Moments later, they found a small cave where the fog was formed due to the low temperature of the place. Before entering, Yugi told her that she will find woods to use as fuel so they can have fire inside.

"Go ahead. I won't take long; I'm actually used to this." Cresna didn't ask any questions, and let Yugi leave.

From her first step inside the cave, it seemed as if her heart was suddenly overwhelmed with melancholy.

Seemed like there had been a thorn inside her chest that even struck her chords down to memory lane before she came in that particular scene and time.
