Chapter 6

I wake up to someone screaming very loudly. It sounds like they are in a lot of pain. My eyes shoot open and immediately reach for my pistol that I keep in my bedside table. I grab the gun quickly and rush out the door. I run down the stairs as fast as I can without tripping. When I reach the bottom I see Giana and Chase already there both holding weapons. We hear the scream again. It's coming from the basement where Vienna has been staying. It's not like a creepy basement it's nice and has lots of room for her and Jionni. We rush down the stairs to the basement and see Vi hunched over a chair screaming in agony.

"I think my water broke!" She yells when she sees us. My eyes widen and I rush over to her. Giana starts to grab the baby bag while Chase just stands there pale faced. Milly comes down a minute later.

"What the hell is going on?" She says looking like she just woke up. I'm surprised she isn't drunk honestly.

"Vi's water broke she's in labor. We need to get to the hospital now her contractions are pretty close together." Giana says frantic. She's trying to grab everything in sight. I roll my eyes at her being a spaz.

"Chase!" I yell. He shakes his head and looks at me getting out of his shocked state. "Help me get Vienna to the car. Milly call everyone and tell them to go to the hospital, Giana, calm down." I order everyone sharply. Chase hurries towards me grabbing Vi and helping her walk. Milly is on the phone with someone telling them what's going on. Giana ran out the door to get the car ready. We make it to the car quickly and then take off. Chase is driving 40 over the speed limit right now while me and Milly are breathing with Vi. Vi screams and squeezes my hand tight. I wince at her strength. I think my hand in bruised.

"We're almost there Vi just hang in there." Milly says soothingly. Chase whips into the parking lot of the hospital and throws the car in park swiftly. We all jump out and rush inside.

"We need someone here my best friend is having a baby!" Giana screams. Everyone stops and looks at us like we're crazy.

"Um hello! Fucking do your job!" I yell and it seems to snap everyone out of it. A doctor rushes over to us and a nurse gets Vi a wheelchair.

"I want you three in there with me." Vienna says to me, Giana, and Milly. We all nod and head to the delivery room.

"Where's the father?" The nurse askes. We all freeze and look at her.

"He died 8 months ago." Vienna says teary eyed. The nurse gives us a sympathetic look. I take a deep breath trying not to break down right now. He should be here. Giovanni should be here for this. I don't understand how Vienna holds it together so well.

"Ok Vienna you are dilated to a 10 you're about ready to start pushing." The doctor breaks me out of my thoughts. Geez that was fast. I thought women were usually in labor for hours before starting to push.

"Ok Vienna I need you to give me a big push." The doctor says. Vienna takes a deep breath before pushing. She screams and grabs Giana tightly. Gesù Cristo I never want to give birth this looks awful. Vienna pushes another few times before the doctor yells something about a head. I'm not really paying attention all I can focas on is how terrible this must be. I mean she couldn't get an epidural because she was to far dilated so she has no drugs this is all natural. Pushing a human out of your vag with no drugs. I don't get why women do this. My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of crying. Not Vienna crying. My nephew crying. The doctors and nurse's are cleaning him off and I can't help but just stare at him. He's amazing. This is why women do this. The doctor wraps Jionni up in a blanket and hands him to Vienna. As soon as Vienna holds him he stops crying. She smiles at him and he opens his eyes for a moment before closing them back tightly. The doctors start to help Vienna with feeding and getting her cleaned up. I decided to go out to the waiting room where Chase, Jake, Grey, Drake, and Brezlyn are. They all jump up when they see me and start firing questions at me.

"How is she?"

"How is he?"

"Are they ok?"

"Did everyone go well?"

"Did she poop?"

The last one was Jake obviously. We all make a disgusted face at him.

"What it happens." He says. I roll my eyes and look away from him

"They are good. Vienna is doing ok but very tired. We were to late for her to get an epidural so it was natural. He is good very healthy and big. He's 8 pounds 7 ounces and 22 inches long. He has Giovanni's blue eyes and Vienna's cheek bones. He's absolutely beautiful." I smile at them.

"When can we see them?" Grey asks.

"Well they're trying to get them situated and comfortable but I bet you can see him soon." I go back to the room and see Vienna breast feeding Jionni she's talking quietly to him. I decide not to interrupt and go wait with the others.

A couple hours later I'm back in the room holding Jionni. Vienna is passed out and Giana and Chase went to get everyone food. Milly is asleep in a chair in the room while everyone but Jake and Grey left.

"Hey I'm going to get some coffee real quick does anyone want any?" Grey asks.

"No I'm fine thank you." I say and Jake shakes his head. Jake is sitting in the other chair while I'm standing bouncing Jionni.

"Come here." Jake says. I look at him and see him pat his legs telling me to come sit on his lap. I walk over and sit on him sideways and bring my legs up. I rest Jionni on my legs and watch him sleep. Jake rests his face in my neck and breaths deeply.

"He really is incredible isn't he." Jake says softly. I take my eyes off Jionni and make eye contact with Jake. His face is very close to mine. His eyes are a beautiful light brown and they are looking at me full of love making my heart beat fast. I smile and lean my forehead on his for a moment.

"Ya he really is."
