Chapter-16

Rehaan POV -

She was hugging me so tightly and I could feel the fear in her. I knew we had an unbounded love, but I can't.... I can't.

I deserve this pain. I deserve to feel the pain of losing her. How can a devil love an innocent soul?

I deserve this, but why is she suffering this pain? I need to leave her, so she can live a happy life. But, no, she suffers so much pain when I'm not with her. I can't do that to her.

"Shafaq." I muttered, and she hummed in response, her eyes looking at me.

"You're getting married?" I asked.

"Because of you!"

"I'm sorry" I whispered.

"Why did you do that, Rehaan?"

"To make you stay away from me!"

"Why?" She muttered in a dim voice.

"Do you really want me to tell you the real reason why?"

"Yes."

"I'm married." I spoke quietly. Her eyes widened as they filled with tears. She didn't say anything, and I just watched the tears roll down her cheeks.

"You're married?" She barely whispered.

She stood up and began to leave, "Stop Shafaq! You have to listen to the entire truth!" I shouted at her back.

She stopped just before opening the door, her hand on the knob. Turning the light on I moved towards her.

"You remember that I told you that Sarfaz's son committed suicide because his girlfriend left him?"

"Hmm." She replied while wiping her tears.

"And did she leave him because of you?" I asked.

"Yes, I separated Aaliyah from him. I had seen the real him. He was not okay mentally, he was a drug addict. How could I let my friend be with a man like that? I had no idea he would take his own life!"

"So, do you know where she is now?"

"No, she left school in the ninth grade, because they moved to another city."

"No. That's not the truth. She left because I kidnapped her and forced her to marry me because Sarfaz ordered me to. He used to beat her every day, and do you know what I used to do? I would enjoy it. I had seen my father beating my mother and I used to think that every woman should suffer like that. But then, one day she ran away."

I watched her and continued, "We searched everywhere but we couldn't find her. I don't even know if she is alive, but Sarfaz's revenge wasn't over with yet. He ordered me to kidnap you and I obeyed him. And then you... knowing that I'm a criminal, fell in love with me. When everyone was against me, you were with me. I tried to stay away from you, but I couldn't. Destiny brought us together."

She was quiet for a while and I was just waiting for a reaction.

"Shafaq, are you okay?" She only nodded.
